Brief respite from the heat, this nice little plaza has a church nearby and the statue of San Miguel hero Ignacio Allende on a horse. Interesting and sooner or later walking around town you'll come upon the plaza

The first statue of Ignacio Allende was replaced because he was riding a horse with it's feet in the air - which symbolizes someone killed in battle. Allende was not killed in battle, he was captured and killed by the Spanish, thus a new statue with the horses feet on the ground. It's a beautiful statue in Plaza Civica.

First main square of the town in the 16th and 17th centuries. Surrounded by manicured trees and hedges, with beautiful old buildings nearby. A nice place to come and sit for a while. Street vendors.
Extends over 2 courtyard areas with the lower courtyard having a fountain.

This was a very neat small garden in the center of town with an interesting statue.Apparently it was a place for political events or discussion in the mid 18th century and the guy on the horse played a role. Did not get his name so my apologies for whoever he was but he and his horse are striking in bronze.
