First of all, the lake is very small and I have seen dozens more beautiful than it. Then, the access road can be made by car, up to a point and then, on foot, on very steep paths. The part you do with the car is not easy, the road is very narrow, only one car can drive in each direction and you do not have visibility all the time. I didn't take a risk and I walked - 60 minutes to climb, I stayed at the lake for a maximum of 15 minutes and then 45 minutes to go down. The road is marked with a blue circle in a white circle. Disappointing!

The road to the lake takes about 15 minutes from the parking lot. It is quite steep, but here it is subjective. Considering that I arrived there after 3 days of rain, the blue lake was more like the green lake in any park, but I leave 5 stars for the cleanliness of the road and the overall view from the benches arranged around the lake.

We planned to visit this lake during our road trip in Maramures and stopped in Baia Sprie for this purpose. The climb up from the church up the hill was very narrow and steep with the car, thus we decided to park the car and walk. There are no directions so we asked a few locals to show us the way. While climbing (on a road among private houses), there were tens of dogs (some in the yards barking very loud, some loose on the road), which made the experience very unpleasant and decided to give up.
It is a pity that the town hall of Baia Sprie does not do the minimum necessary to properly mark the way and secure a safe road for people to reach to this attraction.

This lake is unique in Europe due to its water minerals content. It has a high concentration of Sulf, which makes any wounds and scratches on your body close up faster than they would normaly do. By faster I mean much faster!
The place is a hidden gem, well known by locals tho.
It is a great place for picnic, being suitable just as much for families as for individual travelers.
There are no tent restrictions, no fire restrictions, and on top of it around the lake you can find plenty berries and edible mushrooms.
It is not a place for posh people tho, so if you were born in a 7 stars hotel with spa, you're better off!

We took a detour over a long mountain road to go to this lake and everybody was really disappointed. It is a very very small lake and nothing compared to anything you might see in the Alps. It is also very difficult to find and get there and you should park the car in the village as the roads are very narrow and if another car gets in your way you won't have fun. If you are in town for other reasons or happen to pass by it is Ok. The color was more brown or green than blue.

In the early august when we visited the lake it was green.
Small and cute lake, apparently no water fauna, however encountered by the forest which makes the lake iconic.
On a rainy day as ours, it's quite and peaceful.
Practical topics: leave the car in the village, as the road is very thin and in one moment you should leave the car anyway and take the hike trail.

The lake is a special place in Maramures because of its colors .during the cold seasins the lake is smarald green amd during summer it takes a turquoise beautiful color.it is astonishing.be aware of the fact that the place is not reachable by foot.you would need a car to get to the area and then just by walking you can find it.it's worth it

Although it might be hard to find especially if you don't have a local to guide you, however it's worth the hike, small but beautiful lake with blue-ish water surrounded by the forrest.
