The road to the lake takes about 15 minutes from the parking lot. It is quite steep, but here it is subjective. Considering that I arrived there after 3 days of rain, the blue lake was more like the green lake in any park, but I leave 5 stars for the cleanliness of the road and the overall view from the benches arranged around the lake.

It is a small lake on a hill, not fare from Baia Sprie city town hall, you should leave your car at main road and walk up about 20 min, on a narrow road and a steep clay footpath through the forest, very good for jogging lovers( otherwise you will be very tired).

You will see a lake formed 100 years ago ( about 1919) through collapse of a mining tunnel and collecting rainwater, it has no other water inflow or outflow. The colour of the lake is given by copper minerals dissolved in the rainwater, Malachite (green-precious stones ) Azurite (blue - precious) and other minerals, which give the water some health benefits. You can have a bath there. Of course the water could become as well muddy when is a storm, because it collects water from the hill slopes.
You could imagine that the hill is full of mining tunnels and looks like a Swiss cheese.

If you want to see the nice green-blue color, visit it on a sunny day. A bit of rain makes the water brown and turns the road there in a nightmare: it's narrow, slippery and full of dogs, so beware!

First of all, the lake is very small and I have seen dozens more beautiful than it. Then, the access road can be made by car, up to a point and then, on foot, on very steep paths. The part you do with the car is not easy, the road is very narrow, only one car can drive in each direction and you do not have visibility all the time. I didn't take a risk and I walked - 60 minutes to climb, I stayed at the lake for a maximum of 15 minutes and then 45 minutes to go down. The road is marked with a blue circle in a white circle. Disappointing!

Took our dogs for a walk here and it was really pleasant.
There is a small beach area that is great for a dog to get in and out, our dog thoroughly enjoyed his swim and the walk around the lake. There is a 15 min or so walk from the small car park that is steepish but manageable, especially in the dry weather. There are picnic benches dotted around and it is all relatively clean. There is also a toilet but we didn’t see what that was like.
It was an excellent way to spend a couple of hours walking the dogs in safety off lead.
And for anyone that says it not advertised enough, that is good as the road to drive there is very narrow, it would be chaos if it was busy!

The lake is a special place in Maramures because of its colors .during the cold seasins the lake is smarald green amd during summer it takes a turquoise beautiful color.it is astonishing.be aware of the fact that the place is not reachable by foot.you would need a car to get to the area and then just by walking you can find it.it's worth it

We took a detour over a long mountain road to go to this lake and everybody was really disappointed. It is a very very small lake and nothing compared to anything you might see in the Alps. It is also very difficult to find and get there and you should park the car in the village as the roads are very narrow and if another car gets in your way you won't have fun. If you are in town for other reasons or happen to pass by it is Ok. The color was more brown or green than blue.

We planned to visit this lake during our road trip in Maramures and stopped in Baia Sprie for this purpose. The climb up from the church up the hill was very narrow and steep with the car, thus we decided to park the car and walk. There are no directions so we asked a few locals to show us the way. While climbing (on a road among private houses), there were tens of dogs (some in the yards barking very loud, some loose on the road), which made the experience very unpleasant and decided to give up.
It is a pity that the town hall of Baia Sprie does not do the minimum necessary to properly mark the way and secure a safe road for people to reach to this attraction.

Nice hike to the lake but turns out it was greenish... searching up hill, you can find some minerals from the mining activity: barite, quartz, etc...
