A nice little unfinished monument which surely has a lot of history but nothing much is known about this place. It’s in the middle of no where in Chanderi with garbage being dumped on one side of the building. There are 3 graves inside this monument. So was probably made to house those graves.

Sehzadi ka Rauza is within city monument in Chanderi town of Madhya Pradesh state. Till now, their is no entrance fee to visit this monument. In past, this place was like a island, means surrounded by water but now a days, it is on dry-land with some more Cenotaphs surrounding to it. It is tallest among its nearby cenotaphs. Is past it is very colourful monument with usage of different colours at its top but now a days, other colours almost disappeared. It top seems damaged with the passage of time still it is very photogenic from outside, as well as from inside. Their are multiple graves inside the monument so visit this monument in daytime to do its best photography.

A monument dedicated to daughter of ruling king, the story associated with this monument is not very clear, though the monument has its own charm, has quite distinctive architewcture and worth a visit. The road leading to this monument is not huge and you might have to consider walking down till this place.

It's a pretty tomb but not spectacular.
The arched spandrels and brackets it was famous for have probably broken down. I saw a stack I'm one corner.
It's on the lake in Chanderi and it's entrance is lined with sati monuments on the left

Chanderi was ruled by the Malwa Sultanate, and much of its architecture is pre-Mughal. The original thing about it is, most of it is built in just stone, just like the Hindu temples of the region. This is what makes it important.

Shehzadi Ka Rauza is such a pure-stone building with an octadome. The beautiful serpentine struts outside give a certain character to it. The rectangular building is two storeys high. Though it was under renovation when I visited, it was still spectacular.

There is a beautiful story about Shehzadi Ka Rauza. It is said that princess Mehruissa fell in love with a common man. Her father paid ransom to kill the lover of his daughter. The lover was attacked and wounded but managed to get back to Chanderi and breathed his last in front of the princess. In grief, she also took her life.

Her father, then, like other stories, repented and built the Rauza in her memory.

Anyone who loves monuments in stone, and particularly sandstone, will love Shehzadi Ka Rauza.
