This was a great experience. We had a chance to swim in the cenotes. We did zip line, canoed and also did some jumps directly into one of the cenotes. The tour guides were fantastic at this park and it is very well maintained. Senor Cruz provided transportation to and from our hotel and acted as our guide to the park. He was very familiar with the employees of this park. This was our first time swimming in cenotes and we were very happy with the overall experience. Thanks for a great day!

We really enjoyed visiting Tankah. In this area, the Ceynotes are more above ground.
Our tour guide Emilio was very knowledgable, patient and helpful.
Our photographer Vicky took some great photos.
There is a lot of walking on fairly rough trails so good footwear important.
Lots of clean Eco toilets along the tour.
Zip lines were great.
Canoe ride peacefully serene.
Jumping into the one Ceynote was pretty exciting!
The Mayan Village tour was very brief.
Lunch served was delicious.
Tequila tasting very informative.
I’ve been to other ceynotes in the Yukutan that are deep underground and more awesome.

My family took this tour using our resort credits from hard rock riviera maya hotel. We have 2 teens - 13 and 16. We all had a blast on this tour. You get to swim in 4 different types of cenotes. The tour includes a variety of events including: 3 ziplines, canoes, swinmming, and cliff jumping. At the end, there is a meal with drinks. Overall, we had a great time. Our tour guide was named caesar, and he did a great job keeping us entertained. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. Pickup at the hotel was at 10:30 and we got back to the hotel around 5:00. This allowed us time to get back for dinner.

We booked this excursion through the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya with our credits. You do have to pay the 20% service fee, but this excursion was well worth it!
We met in the Hacienda lobby at 10:30 a.m. and boarded a bus. There were actually two buses of people, but they split us up so not everyone was at one place at one time. Our tour guide was Cesar and was OUTSTANDING! The ride from the hotel was about 30 minutes, and he did a wonderful job of educating us about Tankah, the Mayan civilization, and the cenotes that we were headed to. He also went to each person and asked if anyone had any specific questions. Upon arrival at Tankah, they had water for us, and some fresh fruit. Once our group of about 25 was gathered together, we headed to the first stop of the tour. It was a cenote, which could be entered by stairs (for those not adventurous like myself), by jumping off a 20 foot cliff, or by zip lining and falling in. They have little areas very close whee you can leave your personal belongings. At no time did I ever worry about this part. Our second stop was another cenote. This one had a cave with lots of swallows and bats. You could enter by stairs or by jumping off a 10 foot cliff. I actually did this one! The water was so nice and clear. There were also life jackets available. We put them on to swim into the cave. This was amazing! Our next stop was zip lining. There were three different zip lines. I am the least adventurous person, but I did this! We were fitted with our gear and then given our "brake" which was a wooden hooked stick! This experience was so safe, and neat. The scenery was amazing and the staff helping us was great. At the end of the third zip line, we loaded up into canoes. You could go 2 or 4 people in a canoe. The canoes are wooden and what seemed to be manmade. They were very wobbly! Our group of 4 wiggled back and forth and almost tipped. I would personally advise 2 people per canoe, and definitely wear a life jacket as you paddle across the huge area of water. Our next stop was Azul cenote. This was more cliff jumping and swimming. This was a great spot for snorkeling if you brought your own gear. Life jackets were also available here. There were so many fish to see. We left this spot and headed to our traditional Mayan lunch, prepared by women who live in this village, over a fire, as there is no electricity to cook. It was delicious! On the way out and heading back to the bus, a teenage (?) Mayan girl came to the edge of her hut with bracelets to sell. They were $2 each. We arrived back at our resort around 4:30 p.m.
Overall, we were so pleased with this excursion! It was perfect for my adventure loving husband, and the other extreme...me.
NOTES:
*Wear biodegradable sunblock.
*Wear water shoes. I wore my Keens and they were perfect! The paths are rocky and not flat.
*Bring your own snorkel gear.
*The excursion is available at Moon Palace and Hard Rock Riviera Maya.
*We tipped both the bus driver, who waited on the very hot bus for us, and Cesar our tour guide. He was the best tour guide we have ever had on any excursion! All throughout he also took part in the activities with us, and provided education about the cenotes, the underground rivers, etc. We also tipped the men who helped at the zipline area by using the tip containers where we left our personal belongings, and the women who served our lunch.

This excursion was the highlight of our vacation to Cancun! We did the Tankah tour through Hard Rock Hotel and really got very little information about it from the hotel. It was part of our resort credits and all they told us is that we would zip line, go in a canoe and swim in a cenote. That was it. Well, our guide Cesar started explaining everything on the bus trip there and we learned it was so much more! We ended up jumping 15 ft. down into a cenote, zip lining holding onto a bar and letting go into that same cenote, swimming into a cave that had bats (bats left us alone), zip lining over water twice (the regular zip lining), canoeing, swimming in another cenote and then enjoyed a great Mayan meal. Our 11-year-old and 8-year-old both had a great time! Just a note to parents of picky kids: the meal included chicken, pork, rice, beans, etc., so you may want to pack something if you have picky eaters like we do. The tour company takes your picture throughout the trip and you can buy a disc with all of your photos for $60 at the end. Be sure to bring cash because no credit cards are accepted. You'll also want tip money for the tour crew and Mayan workers serving the terrific meal. Wear eco-friendly sunscreen. Our tour left Cancun at 8:30 am and returned around 5 pm.

Cenote was not a cavern but still cool to be visited, very clean water and security on the site. Meal offered was very good (specialy the chicken) as typical mayan food. Sweet staff. Photo grapher (Viola) sells 1 picture at 15$ USD...lol and complete set on USB key at 50$ USD...everybody taking pictures with their iPhone for free… On your to do list but not priority #1.

Its the best natural waterpark in my opinion! The caves, diving/swimming in the crisp blue water with fishes, zip lining, kayaking and everything else was relaxing. My kids had so much fun. It was very well organized and our tour guide was fun and friendly.

The previous reviews here were very helpful for me to decide if our family would sign up for this excursion. It's a private eco-park, and I think Hard Rock Hotel (Cancun and Riviera Maya) is one of the few groups that provide tours here. We came with HRH Cancun - left around 9 am and returned to the hotel by 5 pm or so (the ride was about 1 hr 45 min). HRH has towels at the bell stand out front that you can take with you on excursions.
I won't repeat what others have described (it was the same when we visited), so I'll add a few things that might be helpful to families with small children. We had our 3.5 and 6 year old with us; there was another family with a 3 and 5 yr old. There were life vests (including kid-sized ones) available at each cenote. Each cenote had a staircase to the water, so we could walk down with our kids instead of jumping from up high. The kids all enjoyed the water. The walks between cenotes varied in distance, but we managed to keep up (okay, we brought up the rear every time). The water felt amazing!!
For the zip line, a smaller kid can ride tandem with an adult -- my kids refused to go on the zip line, but the 5 yr old from another family went with his dad with no problem. Our kids waited in the hammock area (only our tour group was in the area) while we rode the zip line and canoed back to them (the canoe ride takes less than 5 minutes).
The (mostly) traditional Mayan lunch was delicious -- portions were generous. Our kids did fine with the food -- rice, beans, chicken and tortillas. (And fresh fruit.)
I recommend wearing rash guards (UPF protected clothing for swimming) to reduce the amount of sunblock needed; any sunblock you use should be biodegradable to keep the water free of pollutants. There were plenty of shady areas throughout the eco-park (it's a jungle after all). Eco-friendly mosquito repellant is useful too (although we still got bitten - ouch!).
The most challenging aspect for our kids was the latrine bathrooms, but they were still fairly clean (especially compared to porta-potties in the US), and there was running water to wash hands. The paths between cenotes were fairly rocky, which was a little hard for the kids. It would be do-able for someone in a wheelchair (one of our friends who had a sprained ankle considered going but decided not to), but it would have been pretty bumpy.
We loved how low-key the place was - only one tour group at a particular location at one time for the most part (our tour bus group was about 30-35 people). The tour was well-organized (our guide was Humberto) and time was managed fairly well (although it went by way too fast!). Beautiful, serene eco-park -- so grateful it was shared with us!

We spent a great day swimming in 3 different Cenotes and then did 3 different zip-lines across a lake. Our guide was fantastic and we had a fabulous authentic lunch prepared by Mayan residents of the camp. The Tequila tasting at the end was too long but all in all this was a great excursion.

I posted a review earlier about the cenotes tour on the wrong area.
This tour was the best as there was only 10 of us. After visiting the Telum tours, under the hot sun, coming to 3 cenotes was the bomb.
After a couple of miles riding through the jungle, we zipped line twice over the cenotes.
Then you paddle on a canoe to be greeted by one of the clearest bluest cenotes ever.
No tourists at all or vendors. Our group had the place to ourselves. Afterwards we had an authentic Mayan lunch. Chicken steamed with banana leaves, stewed pork, beans, handmade white corn tortillas and salsas.
We had Mayan coffee which tasted like cinnamon. After lunch, we visited two more cenotes. One had a cave with bats which was fascinating.
We started at 8 am and back at the hotel at 4 pm. Our guide was wonderful. We took our time and there was no rush.
If you ever visit Cancun, book a small group tour. It is worth it!

We are from Canada and have had a little house in Tulum for 11 years. We would like to know if we can visit one or more of these Tankah cenotes with our own car and not on a tour. How much would the entrance be?
Written 17 February 2018
As I was there with a group, the visit had to be organized in advance, but for sure they are also accessible on an individual basis. Usually parking is organized on the spot by the entrance, but inside the park you cannot drive, you’ll have to walk. It is a protected area and vehicles jave limited access unless special cases and on special request (i.e. people with reduced mobility).
Hope this helps!
For prices it is better to check on the website.

We did not do the Tulum cenotes because we wanted more privacy. We had Tankah all to ourselves. My kids are all teenagers.

I'm looking to book a tour for 2 to this park. I will be able to arrive at the park with my own transportation. Can I buy admission tickets at the park? Or, do I need to book in advance? How much is admission (the link on the website is down)?
Written 29 July 2017
According to our guide he said the tour is only available through 4 resorts. Hard rock riviera Maya being one. I'm not sure of the other 3. We were picked up at the resort and bused in. The guide made it seem like it wasn't really open to other options. I know this isn't a perfect answer, but I hope it helps!
