My husband had been to Dos Ojos previously, so he was thinking we'd return there, however, on a tour at the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary another traveler from Jersey told us Sac Actun was WAY better than Dos Ojos. So we decided to take a gamble. Getting to Sac Actun: It's on the same road that Dos Ojos is, actually you... More

One of the best places to experience a Cenote as you can see geology as it has formed and imagine how the Mayas depend on the Cenotes as a water resource

A simply incredible cenote, really like no other. It's more a speleology trip than anything else: you'll be swimming between stalactites. You will learn a lot with Luis

To get to Sac Actun, we drove our own car past Dos Ojos. To pass the gate we simply had to mention that we were headed to Sac Actun. The trip was absolutely incredible. Snorkeling with amazing stalagmites below us for 50 ft and stalactites just above our heads was an unbelievably beautiful experience. We took our 5 and 9... More

About $25 per person for the 45 minute guided tour, includes snorkel gear. Worth it because this place is amazing. The water is cold so be ready. Also it's about 2-3 miles down a dirt road so if you don't want to walk far it's best to drive or take a taxi all the way down. Not too extreme, fun... More

Wow, this is the coolest cenote. We learned that the cenotes still located within caves are the newest. The ones that are out in the open are older as they cave ceiling caved in. The water was not too cold or too warm, and it's crystal clear. You have to go with a guide to figure out the path. Learning... More

Concierge at my hotel suggested this cenote and it was a great visit. Antonio did a super job as our guide -- he even gave two women who were a bit fearful of swimming a tow along through the cenote. I was sorry not to have an underwater camera and suggest bringing one. That, and a wet suit! I shivered... More

Hands down the coolest cenotes you'll ever find. Our guide Louis was great and the cenotes is absolutely gorgeous and not at all crowded. If you're very claustrophobic, you might reconsider- you go through a few tight spaces but nothing too bad. It's just past the Dos Ojos Cenotes and TOTALLY worth the trip. I'd go again in a heart... The "Pet Cemetery" is pretty hard to find (you drive through the parking lot of Dos Ojos and keep going for almost 10kms), but it's definitely worth the visit. Beautiful Cenote and a great guide (Antonio)! From what we heard from others in the group, it's one of the larger Cenotes to explore. Bring towels and something warm to put... More

This is truly a unique tour experience. I am so glad we chose to visit this cenote over the others. Our guide, Rodrigo, was fun and easy-going and also pointed out some very interesting things during our tour. If I were swimming in another cenote, I would have missed out on those details. We had a car, so we drove... More
