This beach is worth a stroll, but it’s fairly crowded it has lots of tourist traps. Plan on spending time at other beaches that are a little more relaxed.

This statue located just before the beach in Playa Del Carmen. Head here first thing in the morning to get a clear photo without tonnes of people, but also head here in the evening to see street performers in front of the statue.

It’s a nice way to start the day off before walking along the main shopping street or if you’re coming from the other end it finishes the walk off nicely.

The sculpture in Parque Los Fundadores is actually pretty enough - and also very photogenic if you want a framed picture of the city's beautiful beach.

But the "park" itself is not really a park at all, just a bunch of pointless concrete tiles on different levels, located near one end of Avenida Quinta, the quite cheesy main street in the rather cheesy town of Playa del Carmen.

The PARQUE LOS FUNDADORES, commonly known as 'The Town Square' in Playa del Carmen, is at the beginning or the end of the "infamous" 5th Avenue shopping walk, depending on where you started, and it's an example of the landscape architect failing to come up with something that is usable, safe, or something to be proud of. And I won't be back!

This place is an accident waiting to happen, with its disappearing steps design that is nothing but a tripping-trap for both young and old. The park is unkept, crumbling around the exterior, overcome with weeds and filled with garbage.

AND the only redeeming quality is the one beautiful sculpture that is front and center down by the waterfront, and it's truly deserving of something better! We snapped our photo and now we're gone.
Safe travels, Paul

I saw a really cool Mayan performance here which was well worth a watch. I would say it is a reasonable monument and place to take photos, but nothing absolutely mind blowing.

Great place to watch a sunrise. and typically not very busy with tourist and ferry traffic first thing in the morning. Throughout the day a lot of activities are going and the beach can get crowded. If you are a people watcher there is ample places to sit back and watch. There are restaurants and the mall next door

Neat little area. Between the 2 oceanside bars, the Ultramar ferry and the park, there's a lot of foot traffic. I did feel safe as there was a profound policia presence. It's a great place to watch the sunrise. There is a taxi stand with plenty for hire. A "Playa del Carmen" photo spot can be found here too.
