It's ok. Typical Mexican tourist area. Just bigger. Fun at night. Lots of performers. If they say they know you from your resort, they don't. They just recognize the wristband.

We loved the beaches, the sea, the food in Playa del Carmen but 5th Avenue was a bit too commercialised. Lots of tacky souvenir shops, loud bars, and aggressive hawkers - generally most annoying at the North end of 5th Avenue, near the pier. This...More

5th Avenue is pretty cool, and I would definitely recommend it. We were there last summer, and we stayed at an all-inclusive resort. When you stay at the resorts, you wear a wrist band. The vendors on 5th Avenue look for the folks with wrist...More

I would definitely recommend seeing fifth avenue while you are in playa del Carmen. Lots of shop, restaurants and bars. A great walk in the evening. I enjoyed my stayed in playa del Carmen more than Cancun because of fifth avenue.

Have been to 5th Avenue three times now. Great variety of merchandise to buy. Vendors are willing to barter with you. Love that some of the stores have pharmacy’s in them, just in case you need something. Much cheaper than the lobby stores in the...More

Always enjoy walking the ave for the exercise. However, going a block or two over is more relaxing as your not hounded by some of the venders.

This strip of shopping and restaurants is huge, Like 30 blocks long I'm told. We only hit a portion of it. The shops are cute touristy shops. They do have a mall that has all that a normal shopping mall does. Lots of restaurants to...More

It was when we were there in November. It's a very touristy place so all the craft vendors will most certainly be there on a Sunday! They all want you to come to their little shop to buy things 'amigo almost free'... Ha, ha... More
