My husband and I try to be conscious travelers, and, to be honest, were a bit skeptical of what I thought was a gimmick - a place advertising as a rescue to get more people in. We booked it anyway, as I love horses and I love riding and wanted to see what they were all about. I am so... More

My sister and I booked a trail ride here in November for my stagette. Before I booked I knew I didn't want to ride tiny scrawny horses , nor support that kind of tourism and I didn't want a ride with a crap tone of people. Lisa and her ranch did not disappoint. The horses are all rescues and well... More

There were four of us (all adults) and two guides. I am a horse lover and really did not know what to expect. We did the deluxe ride, where we stopped at an area and had a huge cheese, crackers, fruit and jelly tray & wine, it was all wonderful, displayed very nice and a nice stop. The ride was... More

This was most definitely one of my most memorable romantic experiences I've had. I had this cheese/cold cut plate with fresh fruit and SANGRIA!!! They did EVERYTHING exactly as I requested plus some. I was a bit worried of the outcome as I wasn't expecting this level of attention to detail. I surprised my lady with a candle lit picnic... More

I always research before I use any animal activities while on holiday, I chose Rancho Baaxal because they seemed to really care for their horses and made them a priority and this was evident when we arrived there. All the animals, dogs and horses are rescued and in really well cared for, money is put into caring for the animals... More

The staff are wonderful. The horses ok. however the riding is rubbish. You ride through tracks, in the so called jungle. We only trotted 1 min and cantered for 4 mins on a lane where the cars go and it's rock hard, not good for the horses!!!! Rest of the time you are walking!!! The tack is plastic and the... More

Dear Ramrap10, Thank you for your recent visit to our ranch. We are tremendously grateful for every single visitor, who, by riding with us, contributes to our rescue work. However, I am not sure why you decided to ride with us at all, since you had a very negative attitude already before booking the tour with us, and even tried... More

Coming from someone who has had horses for 14 years, the horses are wonderfully looked after, the staff are very friendly, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone asking. The horses are all rescues and are now living the life they deserve. They also have four friendly dogs that just want love. I felt very at home there.... More

If you want to experience some true trail riding in Playa, this is the place to go. Lisa's horses are all rescues and you can tell right away that she is quite passionate about what she does. She takes the time to place riders with suitable horses based on their experience level. They make sure everyone is comfortable with their... More
