Really impressive monument, a must see in merida. We took pictures from across the street as we didn't dare trying to dodge traffic to get to it, and I don't recommend trying honestly, the way drivers are here. The only minus was the fact that some thought it is cool to spray-paint some graffiti on it, very sad.

A beautiful end to a long walk up Paseo de Montejo, you will stumble across this monument. This is a Mayan style monument that my friends and I found at night time. It’s wonderfully lit up at night, bringing more of an atmosphere to the site!

We walked from Centro up the paseo to this terminus and it was worth it. There is a crosswalk on the side so you don't need to risk your life in traffic on the front side. It is a well-cared for monument in contract to the others you pass along the street. What a shame that people have defaced them. This provides a beautiful, meaningful photo op.

FYI this is in a very busy traffic circle if you are doing a stroll down Paseo de Montejo this is a good turn around point. Not as busy a traffic circle as say the Arc de triomphe but still busy - so be CAREFUL. There are traffic cops - at least one most of the time.

Its funny so many artistic pictures of this - which it is impressive, we didnt think much of it until I realized you could review it. Everytime we drove by it we were worried about getting in a car accident - kind of a crazy traffic circle

We found this beautiful monument at the end of Paseo Montejo when we walked the boulevard during the day. We also view it from horse drawn carriage at night. It is worth the effort to go see.

A wonderful sculpture unfortunately in the middle of a very busy roundabout, making a closer look a death defying experience crossing multiple lanes of traffic.
Check it out at night too when red lights illuminate it and totally change the look.

Big monument on Paseo de Montejo smack in the center of a glorieta. Not sure of the attraction of dodging the traffic to get a photo taken, but across the street there's a good roof top bar where you can have a refresco and watch the entertainment.

The only downside is that it is in the middle of a very busy traffic circle and requires you to be somewhat adept at playing frogger to get up close which then makes photography a bit of a challenge if you are looking for pictures of the entire structure rather than subsets.

Definitely worth a visit but need to dodge traffic in the traffic circle to access (and no one seems to stop!) Need to have a policeman or something to help make it easier. Definitely worth a visit.
