Make sure you map this place because we found no signage and no one around seemed to know it by name. But when you find it you are in (if you enjoy raucous markets) for a treat. All your senses will be in alert. The food stalls sell fantastic street food at ridiculously low prices. Giant tamales wrapped in banana... More

We were on our way to see our attorney in Merida and arrived early so we decided to go to the market. First of all, there is very good cheap parking underneath but the trick is - finding the entrance but we did and it was cheap! There were soooo many things to look at, and soooo busy, it was... Color, crowds, chaos. This is a real Mexican market. It goes for blocks in several directions. You can find anything you need here at a reasonable price. It will take patience and a tolerance for narrow aisles. This is well worth checking out even if you don't need anything.

This is one of the most popular markets in Merida - for both the locals as well as tourists alike. It is a short walk from the central main plaza (Plaza Grande). You can find so many things you want/need - food, clothing, household items, cooking wares, etc.

Geared to everyday shopping needs; meats, vegetables, clothing (limited), jewelry, etc. Bargain prices. With booths located in close proximity to each other, it is easy to overlook parts of the Market. Visit early, it gets crowded fast.

This huge market goes on for blocks. You can find almost everything here. As you wander from stall to stall and section to section every sensory organ is working overtime. Arrive early for best choice of perishables. Allow ample time for exploration. It is easy to spend several hours here.

Must visit for anyone who wants to immerse into local culture and get real feel for local life. Countless rows of colorful fruit stands, clothes, leather products and even life animals. If you are brave enough you can grab something to eat here as well for super cheap. Walk Calle 56 on the eastern side of the market and you... More

We came here to gawk. This is such a huge and bustling market. It has produce, durable goods, and food stalls for the locals. The carrots, avocados, radishes are brilliantly colorful. The food is authentic and cheap. At 10 o'clock in the morning, the locals feast on tortas for 10 pesos each.

As good as any genuine local market anywhere in the world. Smells of citrus fruits, chillies and tacos guide you through the maze. We went around 2:30pm and it seemed a bit quieter.
