Always will love Isla Mujeres, even though its getting more and more crowded. Still between North beach and the centro area for night music and food you can't beat it. Its like playa del carmen 15 years ago. Tons to explore and recently they added wall art to many buildings.

Downtown Centro is a busy place. The Ferry brings in lots of "day trippers" from Cancun plus all the vacationers that stay on the island. Lots of taxis, golf carts, motorbikes and bicycles...and lots of foot traffic. There is so much to see in Downtown Centro. There is the marketplace along Avenue Hidalgo which is closed off to traffic. The... More

Grab a place to sit for a drink and meal and get ready to do some people watching. Many restaurants and shops and they all want their turn at you. Have fun and deal with a shop keeper

Isla Mujeres is a wonderful place to stay or visit, but beware Black Diamonds. On the tour boat over, the men told us we would get good deals there ( they must get kick backs). The earring were not what I was told. They were clear opals with a film over them. I was assured the Tequila I bought did... More

Love to go to El Centro to people watch and try new restaurants. Also fun to listen to the hawkers and their funny lines they use to try to get you to shop in their stores!

Centro has everything you need & more laid back & tasteful than say Cozumel. Our favourite was exploring all the outer streets & finding hidden gems like Rooster on the Go ... best coffee ever!!

Your have to walk down Hildago Street or you have missed the Mexican flavor of the Island. Eat, drink, barter, people watch, dance, listen to music.

Tons to look at and shops galore. If you're hungry take your pick of restaurants and visit with the locals. It's a great way to spend a morning or a whole day.

You must get out of the resort area and stroll through the streets of this small island town. There are a ton of good restaurants and shops that are lively. I never felt unsafe which is important to me as my 15 year old daughter like to get out together and could on this wonderful island. We felt perfectly safe... More

We took the ferry over from Cancun to spend the day on Isla Mujeres. The downtown area was busy on a Wednesday morning, with lots of tourists and the usual hawkers trying to get you to buy their merchandise. It was cute, quaint and as I said in the title of this review, felt more like "real" Mexico than the... More
