I recently (May 2016) went to Mexico with my husband and we took a trip that included a stop at Isla Mujeres for lunch. On disembarking from the boat and walking towards the beach, there was a large nurse shark that was caged in a very small area, about three feet of water, and being man-handled, to entice tourists to... This "attraction" is nothing short of animal abuse. They have numerous nurse sharks enclosed in small pens in shallow dirty water so that tourists can go and have their picture taken with them out of the water! They also hold the sharks out of the water and squeeze them so that water squirts out of their gills.. the poor animals... More

if you like an authentic mexican experience this is one not to be missed, its very popular with the locals and the food is fresh fresh fresh.. best grilled fish i have ever eaten, and the guacamole was so good. service is great and its a adventure just being here! washrooms are a little out dated by about 1000 years... Don't let the appearance fool you, the fish is fresh and very good. The drinks are also huge and strong! Half of our group had the fish tacos and were jealous of those of us with fresh grilled fish. My garlic fish came with rice and veggies and left me nice and full. Two friends shared the fish platter and... More

We rented a yacht and stopped off in lagoon to eat. Went to Playa Tiburon restauraunt, food was OK, not great but exchange rate was 15.0 pesos when general rate was 17.45. Beach is fair. We had drinks at Ice Bar Café next door which was much better.

Tiburon Beach was a good time if you wish to actually hold a shark without all the huge expense and training required for real shark diving. The cost is just a good tip to the shark custodian. Assuming that you have chosen the best way to tour Isla Mujeres, that being renting a gas powered golf cart, head South away... More

We went for a long walk from the North Beach area, and ended up at Playa Tiburon for lunch. There is a big sign up front advertising 2 for 1 on Margaritas, but when we sat down and asked the waiter about that, he said that it did not apply (did not say why). The fish tacos were pretty good,... More

We finally found where the locals eat! The traditional method of cooking is open fired, outside, fresh fish. (Mackerel on the day we were there.) The signage doesn't stand out, so keep your eyes open for this place, located next to the Ice Bar. The food was fabulous and enough to feed a small army. If you wander back toward... More

I can now say I went swimming with a shark! Wahoo! We had a nice lunch here, and they have a shark in a pen, and you can swim with it for a small fee. That was really cool. I got a great picture of me holding it. Critics might say that this animal should be out in the wild... More

We really enjoyed our food & drinks here & came to see the shark & had pictures taken but it really made me sad. The shark does not look healthy, years of sun damage on its skin & lives in such a small confined area. It is not handled very nicely either.
