Richart Sowa built Joysxee, the Floating Bottle Island by himself, with over 150,000 plastic bottles. Shown on MTV Extreme Cribs and Ripley's Believe It or Not, the island that floats on bottles is an ecological masterpiece. Everything on the island was built with recycled materials from the three story house, to the out door bar. Come tour Joysxee and meet the incredible Richie, a real life Robinson Crusoe. An experience you can only find on Isla Mujeres.

We tried to find this place for two days. The locals kept telling us that he has been moving around lately. We found him just before going on the ferry back to Cancun , so we never got to tour him.

We did find it but it wasn't easy, finally asked two different taxi drivers. There is no sign, we saw it by walking out on the dock next door. It looks run down like no one lives there anymore. Wouldn't bother taking the time to...More

You have to pay to see this interesting Boat house that is made of plastic bottles. You just wonder how many of the bottles end up floating away when rough seas come. It a quick thing to check out. My husband wouldn't go see it...More

Had a tour of this place by Richard a couple of years ago. I think he's charging 50 pesos for a tour. Well worth it for the story. An interesting person.
