Different store - we visited the one near Puerto Moreles but definitely scammed. Sold an apparently "silver" ring but it's a mess of colours after only half dozen times of wearing it. It was part of a free trip organised by Dreams Riviera Cancun resort and spa and included trip to the jewellery store and a tequila tasting, then into Playa del Carman. Very poor that this trip is offered by the hotel

Unfortunately this place is a complete scam. They changed their name last year. I was told it was due to Covid but based on their reviews under the other name Matis, it may be from that. I bought several pieces. One ring lost stones within hours. Had a big ordeal to get it fixed. Day 2 the ring lost stones again. This time they happily traded rings. Service seemed good, show room was nice, salesman was also nice so I did not suspect it was a scam. After coming back to the US I found the previous name 'Matis' and reviews. So I took the jewelry to my jeweler. It's all fake, treated glass, especially the color changing stone (the real color changing gem is Zultanite/csarite and mined in Turkey). Not only do they out right lie about it being a stone mined in Mexico. It's fake treated glass and not even the Turkish stone. I let the travel company at the resort know. They need to stop sending people here to get fed to the wolves.Unfortunately this place is a complete scam. They changed their name last year. This whole thing is a scam!! I wish that I would had looked on here before going. They supposedly sold us a ring with a rare color changing stone and they took it for re sizing, when we got to the resort to try it on, it was no longer changing color and the stone was very cheap looking. My young daughter was laughing at us saying she has tos of those "mood rings" from Amazon, funny thing is the ring that MATIS sold us no longer changes colors! It's quite unfortunate and comical at the same time. my advice, do not fall for these scammers!!!!

Well.......I bought a ring the last week if April 2021...I wore It for the first time today.June 16 2021. I lost a small stone. Guess I should have read the reviews prior to spending $316 on this so called Emerald ring. Doubt if it's even real....

RIP OFF! The trip was a free trip by the hotel which I absolutely loved our hotel... Not sure if it was Apple vacation who recommended it but it is what it is... anyway we ended up going and I fell for a “rare” Mexican gemstone that shined all kinds of colors. Absolutely stunning they wanted 310 usd but they went down to 140usd the1st one they sized the gemstone cracked and they had to give me a “more expensive one” to replace it.. I was a bit upset. My sister also bought a ring and when sizing a stone fell out they had to fix that!! Should have been our sign to run but we had already paid!!! .. Sad thing is we went on this trip for my birthday and my mom and sister helped pay for such a pretty ring for my birthday. Literally obsessed with it and had it on every since I got it last week. Went and looked at it to admire it and the center stone is GONE. Sad DO NOT FALL FOR IT!! Waiting for someone to email me back. By the looks of it no one will and I’m heart broken 😔

Word of warning to all in this group. Free tours are never free. We went on a tour yesterday that was included in our transportation purchase. If the tour tells you it includes a stop to Hacienda Museum (Glorified gift shop with a tequila section) and Matis Jewerly store (Said Silver Jewelry Store on our guide) run far away from the jewelry store. The jewelry is fake.
I did buy a ring for myself and my daughter, and no sooner got back to resort and a stone fell out. Clearly poor quality. Won't even attempt to contact them based on the reviews here. Will chalk it up to live and learn. Trying to save others from the scam and money lost. I didn't pay a lot in my view but it was still way too much!
The other place we went was actually wonderful, and the people were great called Boca Del Puma! They have spider monkeys you can hold and pet, two cenotes (one open, one cave), ATV's, Ziplining, and some wonderful people that work there. We really enjoyed this part! ❤

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING HERE!!!
They sell incredibly cheap jewelry and try and convince you it's valuable. I bought a bracelet that they were trying to charge me $500 for!
it's black silver with supposedly white topaz and turquoise and it looks like a little sun I've had this bracelet four days and I've only worn it out once and one complete Ray of the sun all of the stones have fallen out. Also the little slide connector of the bolo has broken off.
you walk in there they tell you an outlandish price for a piece of jewelry and then run around with calculators and bring the price down gradually making you think you're getting a great deal I saw right through all of this but the bracelet I got was actually pretty and I really wanted it so I had no problem spending the money I did on it however to have it completely fall apart within five days was so disheartening I guess I'm just another American tourist (even though I have a place in Puerto Morales) that got taken advantage of by these scumbags.

Were told at resort they had a free shuttle to and from Playa del Carmen, on way we found that we had to stop at this jewelry store for a "tour" for 45 minutes! and a tequila tasting next door for another 30 to 45, after checking out a watch that was tagged at over $1200 usd, 30% off and a $50 coupon came to over $800usd. When I declined as I agreed to check it out "for fun" I was asked of I would be interested if it was at around $800 Canadian, after that I was suspicious and waited outside. Googled watch brand, found on amazon for $130. Tequila was okay, tasting included the the tiniest sample of 3 bottles. Which were all priced around $50usd for a 26oz. I would have much rather paid for a cab to bring us rather than sit waste 90 minutes at these over priced stores for a "free shuttle"

We booked our vacation through sunwing for a fantastic hotel near Playa del Carmen. We were told it came with a complimentary shopping tour to Playa del Carmen, cited as a perk of booking Sunwing. This was the tour. They drove us a half hour in the opposite direction from Playa del Carmen to go to this jewellery store. The sales staff were kind but the jewellery is way overpriced. We had to spend 45 minutes at this store and 30 minutes at the tequila store next door, which was toted by Sunwing as a tequila tasting. When we asked to sample the tequila we were told we couldn't. We were then driven into Playa del Carmen around 1:30 in the afternoon after being picked up at our hotel around 10:30. Shame on Sunwing for endorsing this colossal waste of a day of vacation time.

Why are the resorts taking people to these RIP-OFF PLACES??!! Tried to tell my husband not to listen to the scam sales people but he insisted on buying me jewelry for my birthday for hundreds of US$$. After a few months the jewelry is falling apart - the necklace is broken and the stone is out of the ring. These companies should be ashamed of themselves. I can't wait to go back to Mexico and planning a trip there JUST to be able to deal with this. Do NOT fall for these scams. The hotels and cruise people should be ashamed of themselves as well for taking their customers to get scammed like this!!!
