Thought it was a cute market with different shops and places to eat. Items were reasonably priced. The beef hanging on hooks and fresh chickens laying on counters was a surprise.

For less than $10, you can take a taxi from the international port to the Mercado Municipal (always check your taxi rate BEFORE the trip starts). Great little Mexican market -- not big, a little dimly lit, and NOT the stop for you if you...More

On the hunt for souvenirs we stopped in at the Mercado Municipal. While we did not obtain the desired souvenirs, we were treated with an authentic market experience complete with raw meats, fruits, veggies, and a plethora of mini restaurants that offered a variety of...More

It was very nice to visit: fresh fruits and vegetable to buy, real authentic Mexican food freshly cooked at various stands in the market. Perfect place to mingle with the locals.

If you want to know a typical Mexican Market old style, this is it. You will find fresh food from the day, fish, chicken, clothing, and other products. In the USA would be like the farmers market. Additionally, it has a food court deserved to...More

Cute farmer's market where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish directly from the producers. The quality of the fruits and vegetables is actually better (and cheaper) than the other grocery stores. You can also buy spices and have a quick lunch at...More

We came across the Mercado while walking through Cozumel trying to get away from the tourist traps and this place was so awesome, meat hanging from hooks, spices piled high in heaping bags, colorful pottery stacked tall, clothing and much more, but the food counters...More

Stop there for lunch. Totally typical, great food and absolutely inexpensive. Out of the way of all the tourists traps a few blocks down near the water. A lot of the cruise ships workers go this place to have a nice and cheap lunch. Super
