Cute farmer's market where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish directly from the producers. The quality of the fruits and vegetables is actually better (and cheaper) than the other grocery stores. You can also buy spices and have a quick lunch at one of the counters.

We walked around this area for a few hours, there are loads of small stores of every nature, lots of stores that went away when home depot moved in at home :-) we found some great jewellery deals at the casa de cambios sort of like a pawn store, found some old silver coins from a vendor across from the... We came across the Mercado while walking through Cozumel trying to get away from the tourist traps and this place was so awesome, meat hanging from hooks, spices piled high in heaping bags, colorful pottery stacked tall, clothing and much more, but the food counters were full of wonderful authentic food that was delicious...

Stop there for lunch. Totally typical, great food and absolutely inexpensive. Out of the way of all the tourists traps a few blocks down near the water. A lot of the cruise ships workers go this place to have a nice and cheap lunch. Super

This market felt more authentic than the set-up at the pier. We realised that much of it was touristy Cozumel but that is because they saw us as tourists! There were obviously locals there doing their shopping and I expect they got different deals than us, but I think that is fair. I bought a beach hat I was really... More

This is the place where locals come. Be prepared that sanitary tech is lowish so chicken meat and fish are in the open and yes with the flies, but don't, don't freak. Welcome to the local world. These products are very fresh and they sell out in hours and are eaten in hours. Some good deals to be had compared... More

You won't find many tourists here! Great buys! Come here with pesos not dollars if you want the best deals. If you need to exchange your money there is a a bank (next to burger king) just down the street. You will need you passport to exchange money. Shop around ask for prices first then buy. We were able to... More

We ventured down to this local market, easy to get to, everyone was friendly, but not much English spoken here . I was able to have a glass of horchata and buy sunglasses, all in my modest Spanish . The best part was a small shop that sold household supplies. I bought four really pretty, small blue and white bowls... More

Still run like it has been for ages; without too much commercialization, this is a great look into the local culture. You can catch many locals eating breakfast here, get fresh produce, spices and fresh squeezed orang juice and even fruit smoothies. We typically stop twice for fresh OJ, you can find this on the south side of the mercado... More

We went twice and we would have liked to go more times to have lunch at the Mercado Municipal in Cozumel. First of all, BEWARE OF THE TOURIST TRAP OUTSIDE. Many tourists arrive to the Mercado Municipal and seat on the restaurant built just on the side. That IS NOT IT. You need to walk into the Mercado as if... More
