Although not as popular as Chichén Itzá, these ancient Mayan ruins are noteworthy in their own right, as this is the site where Mayan women paid tribute to the goddess of love and fertility.

We visited San Gervasio through our RCCL excursion. Our tour guide was awesome and explained everything. The ruins were very pretty and we found the history/story behind them to be just as interesting!

My daughter and I wanted to check out some local ruins. This place was full of history with several ruins throughout the property. It is well worth the visit if you are staying on the island.

Though not the impressive site of the Chitzen Itza and some others the sites it still bears great significance to the impressive cultural experience of the Mayans, Educational and informative. Our personal guide had actually worked on the restoration of the site in it's early...More

The ruins were fine - nothing extraordinary. The true issue was that our guide was more interested in getting us to purchase black coral at the gift shop, than describing the Mayan ruins or the Mayan history.

We took this tour as part of a package off a cruise ship. We were lucky it was not a super hot day so walking around the ruins was pleasant. Our tour guide, Jesus, was very informative and we learned a lot about the history...More

There are anumber of structures (mayan ruins). Rock paths connecting them. There are informational signs around. Not sure why but I kept getting the impression that they were RECONSTRUCTIONS that were being presented a real.

I visited San Gervasio in May, the site was very nice and the ruins were of intrigue. My girlfriend and I decided to go on our own with no tour guide and we were able to see the entire site within an hour. The main...More

Hi, we are arriving on a cruise ship. Would you suggest taking a cab or is it within walking distance? About how long does touring the ruins take.

It seem to take us 30 minutes by bus to get there. About an hour sounds right.
We're not planning on doing a guided tour, but we would like to go to the ruins. What method of transport would you recommend from the port in Cozumel and back?

Your best bet may be to hire a taxi for transportation and possibly another side tour location or two?
Did you pre-book the tour guide or is this an add on feature when you arrive at the ruins? Thanks!

No we didn't pre-book the tour, when you arrive you will see a group of people just past the gift shops. They are wearing name badges and it indicates they are tour guides. The tour cost us$300 pesos. It was very detailed... More
