This attraction is one not to miss but extremely busy. As soon as we stepped out of our tour bus, greeted by many street vendors trying to get us to buy a sun hat, our guide got us our tickets, shops , restaurants and bars we walked by before entrance gate. Once in, walked a bit to finally enter this massive field with all these historical buildings..we walked to each one where our guide explained everything. Really hot ..wear sunscreen and hat.

Chichen Itza Temple of the Big Tables was built between 900 and 1200 AD, and was named for overlapping levels or tables. It is located to the north of the Temple of Warriors. The four levels or plateaus are crowned by a temple with two columns. A wide staircase leads to the top temple. The shape mimics the shape of the much larger Temple of the Warriors.
The temple has undergone some restoration in 1990. In front of the temple, a frieze has been placed to show the amazing procession of jaguars among trees and spear bundles. The second level has a carved feathered serpent.

The Mayan Ruins are amazing and a must see while in the area. Bring lots of water and good walking shoes!

REcently restored and rarely visited temple that looks a bit like its larger neighbor to the right. It may not be very spectacular in Chichen Itza, but in many sites it could be the main pyramid. Worth stopping by if only to appreciate the archaeologists work.

This building is called the Temple of Tablets because of the overlapping levels. It is located next to the Temple of the Warriors and is a small four-tiered pyramid that is thought to culminate in a temple. Worth a look
