The tour we took with Juan Carlos stands out as the highlight of our trip to Cancun. Chichen Itza and Ek Ballam were breathtaking and Carlos provided amazing insight into parallels between ancient Mayan culture and the Book of Mormon. I'm excited to visit the region again and spend several days touring around mesoamerica with Carlos instead of just one!

I can't say enough about Carlos and the experience he gave us in Chichen Itza and Ek Balam. As mentioned in previous reviews, Carlos is a top notch guide - passionate about the Mayan culture, concerned for our understanding and comfort, and very knowledgeable in the scriptures. I was blown away by his knowledge! While other tours were entertaining their... More

We learned a great deal that we didn't know before that really validates Mormon theology and the the veracity of the Book of Mormon. Juan Carlos has obviously made ancient America a life long study. His descriptions and explanation were very personal and clearly understood and gave us real insight into the Mayan Culture and how it relates to the... More

Nephi Petlacalco is a registered tour guide and is a delightful young man! We had originally contacted Nephi’s father, Helaman (Helaman Tours) but because we tried to arrange our tour just days before we left the U.S. and he was booked that day he coordinated our tour with his son. Nephi and his brother-in-law Carlos have started their own tour... More

Four of us were picked up at Moon Palace promptly at 7:30 am. We had contacted Carlos about visiting Ek Balam & Coba together, which is not one of his scheduled tours. He scheduled our day according to the things we wanted to do and see. The ruins were unbelieveable. The LDS prospective from Carlos was very thought provoking. Time... More

We recently took a trip to Mexico and used the services of Juan Carlos Aleman. He took us to Tulum just out of Cancun. These ruins are some of the most intact ruins in Mexico and are fantastic to see. Carlos made the history of that area come alive for us and was very knowledgeable and a delightful person to... The decision to go with Mormon Encounter Tours was and easy one. From the very beginning when we emailed Carlos we found him responsive and very helpful. We were looking for something unusual and fun that wouldn't require us to spend all day traveling since this was our first trip to Cancun. Carlos was willing to customize a tour for... More

We enjoyed the personal contact and conversation exchange.  I found there were special times that he was willing to share.....his life and experiences, as he was growing up.  They were very special to us and we all apreciated what it meant to share those experiences....a personal connection. The ruins with their history and the connection to the historical Mormon people... More

We had one day with Carlos and could have used more! His passionate knowledge of the history at those ruins is evident in how he explains it. His ability to tie the historical facts to the Book of Mormon has increased my testimony and given me a renewed determination to study it in a new light. Lunch was great as... More
