This place is great. It’s family owned and they really care. Every time I come to St. Augustine I eat here at least once. Everything I’ve had here is excellent. The Mole is wonderful. My friend had carnitas and she said it was the best she ever had. I had shrimp chac mool and really enjoyed it.

Took the R1 bus to Chac Mool Beach. Important! Do not get off the bus at the Playa Chac Mool sign--get off at the Playa Chac Mool ACCESS. Otherwise a pretty long walk. Very nice quiet public beach. Lounge chairs available in exchange for your ID and a small $tip. Beautiful turquoise blue warm waters to frolic in. Lifeguards there too. No glass bottles. But no problem with coolers, plastic bottles or cans. Bring lunch/snacks. There is an Oxxo convenient store in front. Chairs due back by 4pm.

The view to be had from rocky outpost left of public area is good, for few moments. The photos exaggerate the niceness of this beach.

I saw picture of Chak mool in a tourist book in front of this beach. Thought that the statue is in here and looked around but found nothing.. But the beach is great.. beautiful. Lots of people running and jogging here. Do go to the rocks (left after you enter the public beach) and get a slightly elevated ariel view

This beach gets its name after the Mayan God of Rain, “Chaac Mool. It is located on Kilometer 10 in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, right in front of Señor Frogs Restaurant.
This beach and Gaviota Azul beach are adjacent to each other (I guess separated by the small hill), just .5 Km apart so I consider this one big long wide stretch of beach. But waves here can be bit aggressive some time due to the wind which is not the case in Gaviota Azul beach. Its waters seem calm at first sight, but do not let appearances fool you; the undertow is strong and can be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers
Unfortunately, it doesn’t have bathrooms or palapas, so if you want to get some shade you will need to rent a big sun umbrella for around 100 to 150 MXN pesos per day.

This place is beautiful! The public entrance is right next to Hertz rental car. This beach has white sand that is soft, reasonably shallow water and a little bit of snorkeling by the pier. Look for large sea urchins and some colorful fish. Not the best snorkeling but you can at least see a few creatures. There is a restaurant called Mocambo, however it is really pricey on the beach as well.Bring a beach towl, some sunscreen, a bottle of water and prepare to relax.

This was my first cenote dive and our guide took us to Chac Mool to start. Wow!! The water was so clear that without your computer you would have no idea how deep you actually were. It has a halocline and was one of the craziest things I have ever experienced and after getting used to the blurry visibility, it was amazing. It is only a couple feet thick but if you haven't been in it, you have to experience it. I am claustrophobic and found this cenote roomy enough not to cause issues, I also had a great partner which helped. The formations in this cave are beautiful and you have to go if you are in Mexico.

The only reason I did not give this beautiful beach 5 stars is because there's no beach bar. Beyond that, this beach is amazing. There's a small parking area that's free. Bathrooms and showers to rinse off are available. There's a lifeguard tower with an active lifeguard on duty. You can actually body surf here - my husband had a blast! Lounge chairs are for public use; they just ask for a small tip. The many colors of blue water lay a few steps away; the beach even has wheelchair accessible palapas. Place your lounge chair under one of the palapas and bring your cooler full of beer...it doesn't get much better!!!

There are numerous cenotes in the area that are crowded (like Dos Ojos); Chac Mool is only used by scuba divers (no snorkelers kicking up silt) and will be less crowded. Our dive master got us there first in the morning and we had the entire site to our group until we were done.
Like all cenotes, the visibility is better than 150ft- it feels like you are flying in the air. There are areas of full overhead environments and then you'll enter into a cavern where you can go to the surface and breathe air and talk. The group will turn off the flashlights and you can experience how dark it would be if your flashlight died. It was dark. Zero light.
A great experience and must be done with a guide who is cave certified. Not for the claustrophobic!

Chac mool is a very spread system of cenotes located South of Playa del Carmen. Some of the cemotes are available for all and do not require special training. However a Cave diver guide is required and mandatory. Colours are spanning from blue to green to Yellow .. a must for all divers visiting Mexico.

Is there beach umbrellas for rent? If so, how much does it costs and where to rent?

Någon som vet ifall problemet med sjögräs kvarstår nu under december månad?
Spenderade 3 veckor i Cancun i somras och då var det stora problem med sjögräs.
Planerar på att åka tillbaks i början av januari.

We will not be staying in the hotel zone, what is the best way to access this beach from a public entrance? Thank you!
Written 30 March 2017
Chac Mool is a public beach, which means there is a public entrance, its close to a bus stop, drug store, convenience stores, and some restaurants. Near from it is also the "Disco area" (coco bongo, and many others.

How are the waves in late February/early March here for surfing? What type of breaks are these beaches? Any input would be greatly appreciated:)
