About
The dazzling waters, palapas (thatched huts), and phenomenal ocean views are some of the highlights at Playa Delfines. This is Cancun’s largest free public beach and is loved by travelers due to the gentle waves and clean waters. It’s also the only beach in the Hotel Zone without towering resorts in the vicinity and one of the rare few that offers free parking. Swing by in the morning to win a chance of spotting dolphins frolicking from the lookout platform. Or just admire the unobstructed vistas of the Caribbean Sea.
Don’t miss the vibrant block-lettered Cancun sign at El Mirador, a popular photo spot. – Tripadvisor

- Darrel B51 contributionsAmazing viewsNice beach with easy parking access, local bus system will also drop you off at the main entrance. There are restaurants nearby therefore bring your own amenities. Depending on the currents, wind and waves the water may not be swimmable, there are only 2 lifeguard stations on the public beach stretch. Amazing views just look at the submitted pictures and plenty of wanna be instagramers/influencers thinking this is their personnel beachVisited February 2023Written 2 March 2023
- Hayley12 contributionsThey close the bathroom/showers at 5pm!I was told that this was the only public beach in Cancun. It was nice and clean and we found a palapa. However, they closed the bathrooms and turned off the shower water exactly at 5pm, which was really unfortunate. I went end of April on a Monday.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 3 May 2023

- 12Travel_bug12London, United Kingdom103 contributionsGreat if you're not driving there.Lovely place to visit. Free umbrellas everywhere if you're lucky enough to get one. Good life guards. Only problem is you have to pay the scammers for the free parking lots or they'll key your car. We gave a guy 20 pesos when we arrived he complained it wasn't enough. Told him we'd pay when we left. Left him hanging as he couldn't run as fast as I can drive 🤣🤣🤣Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 October 2023

Pittoresk Beach with Azur water, water ist chopy. If calm, would be perfect for sunbathing and staying all day. Visited April 22.

Pretty but not worth it. Waves are SO rough, you'll get pummeled, like bathing suit ripped off, claw clip gone forever kind of pummeled. The beach is really beautiful from a distance but there are so many other nicer areas. No shade and crowded. Parking is free but attendants make you feel like you have to tip them. Parking lot smells like pee. Steep sloped descent to beach is hard to walk up when you're hot and sandy. Skip entering the water on this one and go straight to Playa Caracol or Playa Langosta. Water is soooo much calmer and clearer. P.S. for Playa Caracol, walk down towards the Riu Palace for the perfect less crowded clear water area and good snorkeling off the beach.

SUPER choppy and strong waters, not great if you have kids under 10 years old. We stayed for 5 minutes before packing up and moving to a different beach.

The place is beatufil but not to enjoy the swiming in the sea with kids. The steep descent into the water. For adults it might be fine. But for the families with kids there are otger places much more suitable.

One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. You'll think the pictures are photoshopped until you see it with your own eyes. It is really that beautiful! Water was nice, warm and incredibly blue!

Hi! How we can get directly to Playa Delfines from Playa del Carmen?
We saw several ways: taxi (quite expensive), and bus (but with intercharge in Cancun bus station which take up to 2 hours)
Is there any direct way to get there?
Thanks in advance!

Is taxi expensive to get to this beach if your hotel is like 15 mins away

Yes it is, the least amount a taxi will charge you in the hotel zone is $10dollars! Even if it’s driving u to the corner. Taxis in the hotel zone and Playa are the worse!

I don’t really speak a lot of Spanish so how difficult will taking the bus be from where I’m staying to this beach? For a non-Spanish speaker?

Cancun, Mexico52 contributions
Not hard at all, most of bus drivers know some English since they are used to transport tourists and locals. All you have to say is “Playa Delfines” and they will advise you when you arrive. Same thing on the return, just mention the name of your hotel, try to seat close to the driver so he can advise when you arrive. Also, price for transportation is cheap, you won’t spend more than a couple of dollars per person, enjoy Cancun.

La playa es gratis, es una playa muy grande, limpia y adecuada para broncear.
Puedes caminar por la playa o por la carretera sin problema alguno, solo NO puedes meterte a otro hotel que no sea el tuyo. Saludos.
