Very good items

Very good Mayan items, most of them poorly exhibited. The building itself is very interesting, an old fort to protect Campeche from the pirates.

A small Spanish fort that now houses a small museum. The latter has some interesting objects on display, but some of the captions have faded, and all are in Spanish. BUT in most rooms, there is a collection of boards with descriptions in Spanish on one side and English on the reverse. Search for them. Frustratingly, some previous visitors seem... More

Beautiful but in need of a facelift. Many of the signs are so worn out that they can no longer be read. Thankfully we know Spanish for there was only one English translation left in only one of the rooms. Not sure where the entrance fee money goes but it's not into upgrading the signs.

Very well kept, small but interesting visit to this fort and museum. Nice gardens, cannons and view of surrounding sea/city from this hill. Must visit while in Campeche. Good for photos!

The views from the top of the fort are great. Inside is an interesting small museum with the skeleton and some Mayan artefacts.

We spent three nights in Campeche and for us, this is the number one thing we saw. A great Mayan museum in an old Spanish Fort overlooking the Gulf of Mexico about 2k from the old town - if you don't have car, take a taxi. The museum is not huge, but contains many interesting and beautiful artefacts that give... More

This was my first old fort in Mexico, although I've been to many in the USA. I was super impressed with the artifacts and cannons. They had 2 Mayan era skeletons in cases that were really different, (in a good way.) several different rooms with different artifacts on the main floor. After climbing the flight of stairs, there is wonderful... More

Outstanding and extensive anthropology museum set inside one of the city's forts. The focus is on the indigenous communities that inhibited the Campeche area. Good views from on top of the fort too. You also get to drive past one of the wealthier suburbs of Campeche to see what that is like. If you only have time to visit one... More

Cute little forte worth of few minutes drive. It has a great ocean view. Museum is small but worth a vusit. It has a nice ambiance. We went before closing and it was raining but still was worth if visit. Admission is 50 pesos/adult. You can park your car in front. Go for sunset, i guess that is the best... More

This is a wonderful fort located on the outskirts of the lovely walled city of Campeche. There is an interesting small museum with a creepy skeleton and some nice Mayan artefacts. The fort is not ornate and was obviously built as a purely defensive structure. The views from the battlements at the top are superb.
