It is fantastic that people still keep these traditions alive. Seemingly simple but a dangerous feat for these men. Even going up the pole would be impossible for most of us much less falling head first slowly to the ground. Costumes are also very colourful...More

I am sure that there are plenty of people who find or would find these voladores fascinating. I am not one of them. Watching a bunch of guys circle a pole is boring.

We watched los Voladores of Papantla three times! Twice outside of El Tajin, and once in Papantla city center. There are several performances per day, and the suggested donation runs from 20 to 50 pesos (higher for foreigners). The performance runs approx. 30 mins. It...More

Seeing the Voladores is an unique experience. You can't miss it if you travel to Veracruz. El Tajin is a majestuous place and is full with history...there's so much to see!

The flyers of Papantla are a representation of what is believed was part of a ceremony, the people from Tajin are known as the people of wind, it requires a lot of skills to participate in this representation.

You have to see this event. Besides it being a historical performance to nature its a fantastic show of bravery. I can only say that its the kind of attraction that you will only find at Veracruz. Of course you have to visit el Tajin...More

Stopped in Papantla otw to Tajin. Charming town, interesting mural. Flyers performance just a small piece of the bigger picture. Don't hang around just to see it. It's done also at Tajin.

We saw this show by the pyramids at El Tajin, and again in the city of Papantla near the church in the zocalo. They put on an amazing show, and we were impressed by how gracefully they performed this dangerous and historic ceremony.

An historic ritual performance that is best viewed after a trip to El Tajin and reading about the historical significance. Beautiful to watch.
