I have been here twice during Day of the Dead celebrations. It isa day of remembrance of deceased family members. Graves are decorated with flowers a momentos from their lives.parades in streets great costumes a bit like Hallowe'en

Its almost a feast to walk around. An amazing place, and a place full of life. Especially during the day of the dead festivities.

Its a typical huge cemetery but it gets totally different during the Dia de los Muertos (1-2 November). They lit up the candles, they have live music and they celebrate every bit of life. Highly recommended! Don't miss it for any reason. Incredible experience especially...More

Visit Oaxaca's Panteón General during the evening Day of the Dead celebrations. Somber within the cemetery, rowdy outside. Totally safe and fun for tourists, the celebrations offer a very, very authentic look at Mexican culture.
