We had a great time with Esperanza learning how to cook Mexican food. The day started with a tour of the local market where Esperanza picked up a few items and ushered us to some samples. We then went to her kitchen and started the cooking! Our menu included a red and green salsa, guacamole, 3 types of tortillas and... More

Stop looking right now!!!! You just found the coolest cooking class in Oaxaca! Me and my girlfriend booked cooking classes without having any expectations in particular. We communicated through emails and the only thing we knew was that Esperanza was picking us up the next day to go visit the market and buy the ingredients that we were going to... More

What a fun day! We met Esperanza at the zocolo market to purchase our ingredients and she explained all about those as well as other cultural things at the market. We had a short drive back to the class and met Agustin and Blanca who was also helping in the class. It was like being invited to someone's home to... More

Pros: - Lots of food (tortillas, salsa, guacamole, quesadillas, tacos, mole) - Esparanza is a sweetheart - Beer and mezcal included - Quick email correspondence Cons: - Make sure you confirm/understand meeting location - we were confused by the location, called, and told to pay for a cab to get there. We then sat for 40mns and missed the market... More

My wife and I took this class mid September, on her 40th birthday. I had surprised her with the trip, and set this up ahead of time. Agustin was very good about communicating via e-mail and making sure that I had all the details ahead of time. Esperanza met us at our hotel (Casa de Siete Balcones - something else... More

Wow we had a full on day, met Esperanza at the zocalo markets in the morning for a great tour all around the markets, we hadn't realised how much we had missed when searching on our own. Then to the house of Agustin where we spent the next 5 + hours cooking so many different foods. The taste was incredible... More

Would echo other recent reviewers comments and add that the market tour was a great chance to learn and taste some unusual things like chapulines (which we would not have recognised as grasshoppers in visiting the market ourselves) and tejate (which we wouldn't probably have been brave enough to purchase on our own). For my wife and I, it was... More

Walking through the local markets with Esperanza and sampling some of the local treats unique to Oaxaca was one of many highlights of our day. Augustin and his good friend Esperanza run a really fun and laid back class from Augustines own kitchen featuring authentic cuisine such as Mole Negro, quesadilla, salsa verde, salsa rojo, guacamole and tacos all with that unique Oaxacan flavour.... Wow! What a fun day (and I mean entire day) with Augustine and Esparanza!! This is a cooking class with a difference, which includes learning about food, making new friends and drinking cervesa and mezcal 🍺🍻 this is a class not to miss in Oaxaca!! The day started by exploring the amazing markets with Esparanza and purchasing some of the... More

We did the class July 2016 and it was great! Augustin is hilarious and Esperanza is a great teacher! You start with a trip through the market, then begin your cooking experience in Augustin's kitchen. All the beer and mezcal you can drink!
