We spent quite a few hours here exploring the convent and the various exhibitions. The information was all in Spanish but we still managed to understand enough to get a lot out of our visit. The glimpses of the mountains and gardens from the windows of the convent are spectacular. It would have been great if there were portable audio... More

I'm not much of a museum person but I was cruising the city and figured I'd stop in. I am learning Spanish but I am definitely not fluent and all of the exhibits were in Spanish. I could understand the basics and piece it all together but it was very exhausting! Some of the collections from the tombs are really... More

This place is massive, I loved walking around and enjoying the architecture and the scale of the rooms and courtyards. When I dipped into the rooms, I found a whole hallway of artifacts from nearby Monte Alban, which I'd visited the day before, so that was a real treat. Another hallway revealed more colonial exhibits and there was an unexpectedly... More

The Museum of the Cultures of Oaxaca is in the former Dominican convent that was built in the late 1500’s. The highlight of the museum is Room 3, which features the mother-lode of gold, jewelry, and other riches that were discovered in Tomb 7 at Monte Albán. There are interesting exhibits on the history of Mexico, especially after the Spanish... More

Unfortunately we got there nearly at close time so we had to rush the visit. I will definitely come back again with more time. There are 14 exhibition rooms. Full of history and art. Less than 4 bucks the ticket (!) will give you access to a great learning experience

The museum is a must after your visit to Monte Albán. Most of the artifacts come from the excavated tombs of the site and give you additional information on the refined culture of the pre-conquest indigenes. Also, the museum is next to S. Domingo, the splendid church and to the Ethno-Botanical Garden.

Great small museum located next to the cathedral. The murals and ceilings are beautiful and the displays varied and informative. Displays were located in small rooms formerly used by the church. No elevators and several stairs if walking is an issue.

No doubt this is the most wonderful museum in Oaxaca, and one of the best in Mexico. Very in culture and history. Worth to visit. The only disappointment are the guards that make your visit discomforting. No manners and make you feel that even looking is forbidden.

One of the best pre-Columbian collections I've seen in Mexico. Also beautifully, and interestingly, displayed

The building alone is worth a visit! Unreal construction, very very interesting. Displays were informative.
