The Ethnobotanical Garden of Oaxaca exhibits hundreds of live plant species, all native to Oaxaca. Planting began in 1998 with plants coming from different regions in the state of Oaxaca; such as arid, humid, low tropical and high mountainous temperate zones. The garden represents the broad diversity of geological formations, types of vegetation and climates that characterize Oaxaca.

This was our second visit to this amazing place. Our guide was one of the original planners, and gave an incredible tour in English of the garden, with stories of it's planning as well as educational information about the native plants and their various uses.

This is a beautiful garden that didn't exist the last time (12 years ago) we visited. The two hour tour is very much worth taking. Our volunteer guide was wonderful with much historical and botanical information.

Awesome photo opportunities. Only disadvantage is you need to take a tour with other people, therefore you cannot do it at your pace.
