We didn't check out books or go on the walks, which we heard were fabulous. We did participate in the language exchange on Saturday, which made us feel like we were giving at least a little something back to the community.

We did not go here, but we heard great things about it form other travelers. A good resource about the city.

Like many expats, I live in Oaxaca thanks to the Oaxaca Lending Library. It is 50 years old this year and keeps getting better. My favorite activity is Intercambio which is free 10-12 every Saturday. Mexicans are paired with English speakers for an hour in both languages. It's the best way to polish your Spanish. There is also a children's... More

We came to Oaxaca for the month of July with our three year old and were happy to find the Oaxaca Lending Library. It is well located and has a huge selection of books in English and Spanish. We paid 180 pesos and joined for one month. Just about every two days, one of us went with our three year... More

If you are looking for a place to get English books in Oaxaca, this is the place. Near Paseo el Llano, Oaxaca´s Lending Library has been open for more than 50 years, and is a place where the English speaking community frequently goes.

For English-speaking visitors to Oaxaca, a stop here - early in your visit - can be very helpful. The volunteers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the City. We purchased a map of bus routes and other tips about getting around in Oaxaca that we found most useful during our 8 days there. And, of course, for anyone staying longer, the... More

Find out what is going on in the Expat community and around town with a visit to this resource, celebrating over 50 years of service. As informal as you see in the photo, there is a small cantina, bulletin boards of events, and helpful folk happy to sit and share their experiences. A treasure past mere tourism and a true... More

...and of course, books and DVDs. This is the first time we've been in Oaxaca that we have really had time to avail ourselves of this wonderful community resource. We are library supporters at home, and so both bought memberships, which not only allowed us to take out books, but to have discounted prices at their events. (For some there... More

There are often presentation give on various topic such as what to go if you die in Oaxaca. They offer have a movie night with popcorn and wine served. Once can... More

Love this place. I could pop in and ask where to catch a bus to practically anywhere. Listen to informative talks, practice Spanish. Attend a play (which I did and was terrific). Bought a used book for the whole of 10pesos. I cannot speak highly enough and thank all those people that keep it going. It doesn't matter what you... More
