This is a small exhibition that is displayed very well. There is an interactive space where you can embroider and display your own work which was great for our kids. It would have been great to have a portable audio guide in a language other than Spanish to understand the exhibition more. Whilst the work was beautiful and the craftsmanship... More

This free museum was a treat. I loved the the room with traditional clothing from around the state of Oaxaca. There are as many if not more rooms with goods for sale as to look at, but since it was virtually deserted, there was no one to try and sell me anything and I enjoyed looking at the rugs and... Very helpful staff. Helped with our questions. Especially enjoyed the children's section and their textile art display. Located an easy walk from the cathedral Guzman. Glad we took the time to tour.

Every time we come to Oaxaca, the Museo is our starting place. The shop offers high quality shawls and blouses and good range of books about weaving in southern Mexico. The display spaces are restricted but the selection of woven artifacts always reflects the highest scholarship and what must be an enormous backroom collection. We spent almost an hour with... More

This is a multicultural museum with textile primarily from Mexico but also from the rest of the Americas and Asia. The similarities in technique and symbology seem difficult to reconcile without some sort of contact. For the Americas that contact or trade is easy to imagine but contact with the far east is another story. The museum does not provide... More

The Museo Textil de Oaxaca won't take you long to visit (maybe 30 min max) but it's certainly worth the time! Make sure you watch the short 6 minute video that explains the technique of adding down to the weavings.

Only had a brief visit here but very interesting nevertheless. I was particularly enchanted by the green polished tile floor. Near a very lovely courtyard on the East side of town so you do have to purposefully go there.
