A Must Visit

If someone wants to feel the fervor of the mexican catholicism this is the place to visit. We had a great tour with one of the few very experienced guides.

If you're a devote Catholic this is a must do. If you're not then you may want to visit some of the churches in the centre of the city. The new church is very impressive in its design and construction but honestly it doesn't feel that much like a church.

This whole area is worth visiting as it feels like a genuine Mexican area and you do not see a lot of tourists. There are several parades and marches going on which is interesting and there are numerous buildings to explore (several churches and museums). The area receives several pilgrims from all over Mexico and there is a vibrant atmosphere... More

This is a 1970's or 1980's piece of architecture that is underwhelming from the outside (considering the building's status). This presents an expectation of wonderment for the inside, that doesn't really happen either. The old basilica over the road is far more interesting.

such a beautiful place to house the sacred, miraculous image of the Virgin of Guadalupe on Mount Tepeyac.

New church looks more like a stadium from outside, But when you go inside you will be amazed by its architecture. Inside the old church you can literally feel how sinking/leaning it is. We visited the place with English speaking guide who explained about its rich history. Worth the visit!

It is amazing what faith can achieve, a stunning new cathedral next to the old, literally falling down but still useable places of worship. Walking through and around the old buildings can be quite disorientating as walls lean in several directions at once, but it is well worth while visiting all of them. Everyone was incredibly happy with people who... More

The locals' love of the St. Mary is truly inspirational and certainly worth the visit. The church is also interesting.

Beautiful building. I'm sure if you are of the Catholic faith, this place would be more meaningful. Loved the stations of the cross.

This place has so many visitors it will blow your mind. Lovely buildings and can still be peaceful. We went by train and it's an easy walk from La Villa - Basílica metro station. Lots of souvenir shops along the walk
