Ruth was very timely and organized the tours that we wanted for the weekend. We went to Coyoacan and San Angel with her and had a wonderful time. On another day we did a cooking class with her in her house and it was absolutely lovely! Ruth is so knowledgeable about the city and its history and she has great... More

I was on a tight schedule and didn't have time for an all day shopping and cooking adventure, so I asked Ruth to guide me through the dried pepper selection at the local Mercado Medellin. Her familiarity with the merchants and knowledge of the cuisine was truly amazing. I stocked up on several varieties of peppers along with recipes on... More

Ruth is a wealth of knowledge on all things Mexican (history, culture, food and more) and she was kind enough to meet us for lunch at a wonderful historic restaurant in the historic center called Cafe Popular. She helped us order some truly special dishes and gave us tons of advice. We are thinking about spending more time in Mexico... More

As the owner of a food business and while traveling with a group of industry veterans, we were initially skeptical of hiring a guide to show us the food markets of Mexico. However, almost immediately Ruth Algeria displayed why she is worth every dollar with her encyclopedic knowledge of Mexican cuisine/history. From the first food vendor, Ruth displayed a keen... As a skeptical food professional I was wowed by Ruth Allegria's day with us experiencing the Jamaica market. She is incredibly knowledgable, professionable and fun to be with. Wish we could spend every day with her here. Don't miss this.

Ruth was an instant hit with us. Bright, witty, insightful and charming in all rights ways when you exploring a new culture. If you want to know more than just the cursory; if you want to feel like you are really getting under the hood of Mexican culture both ancient and contemporary then Ruth can truly be a portal to... Ruth is both a wonderful chef and tour guide. She is incredibly knowledgeable about Mexico (and obviously Mexico City), its flavors, cuisines and history. We signed up for the mercado tour and day-long cooking class and really loved communing with Mexico and its food in that way. Ruth took us on a tour of her local market, where we explored... More

There is nothing as wonderful as being in a huge, chaotic foreign city and getting a hug from a new friend when you arrive at a new apartment. This is how our time with Ruth started out. And ended. Ruth hugs her city like she does her food and the people in her life- with gusto! We thoroughly enjoyed our... More

Ruth was great and kept the tour interesting. She has a vast knowledge of the cuisine and is well respected amongst restauranteurs and chefs alike. Ruth was able to get us into some of the most sought after restaurants and we were able to get a glimpse into some of the working kitchens which was amazing to see firsthand. We... More

My tour group spent a delightful day with Francisco our guide, who brought us to to the market in Jamaica to see the floral arrangements and sugar skulls and fresh produce. It was more colorful than normal because of Day of the Dead festivities. We sampled several food items there including corn in a cup with spices and seasoning, a... More
