    Parque Zoologico de Chapultepec
The zoo is lovely and the park around is worth exploring - there are vendors, a carousel and a castle. The zoo is laid out in such a way that it is easy to navigate. It is important to note that while the zoo was free on a Sunday one must pay for the butterfly and reptile houses, both worth visiting!

    Wonderful free City zoo
The Chapultapec zoo is wonderful. I love free zoos in cities, I think they are usually great zoos and they have a great mix of people representing that City. Free City zoos are a good representation of that City. This one is no exception. It was cool to see so many people of all ages. The zoo has large nice outdoor enclosures. My son loves alligators and crocodiles. We saw 1 crocodile outside and 4 small caiman in the reptile house. He was happy with the reptile house! (We paid extra to go to the butterfly house and the reptile house. We enjoyed both!) The butterfly house has so many butterflies! So many different colors, and they're everywhere. There were lots of great animals. We were excited to see the Burmese Python moving around, the Siamang swinging around, and some other monkeys moving all around. (We went to the reptile house at the end of the day about 4:30 and a lot of the animals there were active too!) I also saw the panda, and it looked happy. I love zoos that put the giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, ostriches, and some other birds all together in the same large enclosure, which this zoo did. It's more interesting for the animals, more space for them to all have, and more interesting for the human guests to see their interactions! Plus the zoo had so many giraffes!!! Only dislike is that there's only 1 entrance and 1 exit

Great place to see while you're in town.
The enclosures could definitely use some updating. However, based on my understanding of the zoo's history, I'll give them a pass for not yet being up to the global society's standards. I have no doubt upgrades will be rolled out in the next several years. The overall facility is great. The animals were to see.

It was a great experience. We were surprised that it’s free! Lots of animals, good food court and perfect location! You can spend the whole day in the Chapultepec park after the zoo!

This was an astonishing find! We arrived in the morning before the day became hot (but still remember your sunscreen, even in March), and found that the park and zoo were very quiet - in our first hour we could only have encountered a dozen other people.

The grounds are well-maintained and the staff constantly busy all over. Most importantly, the animals appear to be very well looked after, happy, and with large, well-designed enclosures. The zoo has a good reputation for conservation and is one of very few outside China that have succesfully bred Giant Pandas.

There is an incredible varietly of wildlife here, and there are all the signs of a well-designed and properly run zoo.

Best of all - its free to enter!

Apon arrival we were told the zoo is free entrance, i didnt expect that nor did i expect how wonderfully the animals were kept and all looked well fed and relaxed, so relaxed most of the animals were asleep in the early morning sun which was nice to see them so relaxed. Our personal highlights were the panda, the lion and the bears

I am not a big fan of zoos without a purpose. My kids enjoyed it. Clean environment and variety of species. We would have loved to see the axolotl.

We went mostly to see pandas. We saw one chilling in a tree. Zoo is quite large and free. However, fee is charged to see butterfly/insect/snake exhibit. Well organized with several loops. Decent food court.

Great experience at the zoo! We went with our 3 elementary age kids and had a blast. We spent like 4 hours in the zoo exploring every section. They have lots of animals we haven't been able to see before at zoos in the USA. Overall it's well maintained - nice food court for lunch - and it's free! Definitely recommend
