I have come to this place since I was a little girl. With family, with friends, in school trips, take your pick! Every time I was stunned by the magic of Desierto de los Leones and everytime there was a different owner and food style in the Convento Restaurant: by monks, by French people, by local people, either way EVERY... This is probably the nicest and biggest park of Mexico City. Unfortunately the way to it is awful. It's a small way and people park their cars on the way, so it's very chaotic. Once in the park you can really enjoy a day surrounded by nature. It's kind of cold since its high and full of trees. You can... More

Its a great portion of forest at 40 minutes from Mexico City, it has several places to eat (almost every place serves the same food), and has a lot of fireplaces and grills to make a meal for the family. It has a lake where you can sit around and have a picnic and exconvent that would serve as main... More

Desierto de los leones is an excellent place to spend a Saturday with friends having a BBQ or a Sunday with your significant other, having breakfast and strolling around the monastery and the forest. If you go for BBQ, make sure to go early to reserve on of the fireplaces, that costs 100-200 pesos for the whole day. And make... More

I went there with my wife for breakfast and the spend sometime around. Tips - U will be asked for a contribution in cash at the main park entry (10-20 pesos is ok) - Dine in the monastery restaurant is very good but $$$ and only cash. There are other cheaper options outside but cash only and more local little... More

Located in the Sierra de las cruces mountain range - about a 35 min drive from the city ( san pedro de los pinos ) area. A wonderland - a nirvana - a secret garden to discover ! AMAZING! We have been going here for 20 years - once every year we visit Mexico city - and I always discover... More

El Desierto de los Leones is a very nice park in Cuajimalpa, it´s about 45 minutes from where I was staying in Colonia Roma Norte. I liked the park a lot, the park itself is well maintained and the entrance fee to the monastery and the back of the park is not hight, it think it was 15 pesos per... More

You can reach the park by combi, take the combi at Cuajimalpa garden, direction to La Venta or Desierto de los Leones. There is not cost to get in the park, when you arrive you will find a lot of restaurants with typical mexican food (I highly recommend mushrooms soup, green enchiladas and don't forget to try pulque). We arrived... More

A little far from the center of the city. It is beautiful tree covered park like area where once there was a religious center.... with a chapel, quarters for priests to pray and study, and other artifacts of that 200-400 year old place. Due to the forest of trees some find it a little cold and wet during the cooler... More
