This is such a rich and beautiful building full of very interesting pieces. A lovely biology student gave us a free tour. I highly recommend taking the tour, otherwise you’ll miss many of the wonders hidden.

This place is one of the proofs that in the Cdmx there is a surprising museum anywhere. The collection of fossils and reconstructions of ancient animal specimens is impressive. Also, know how and where they were discovered, the reconstruction process and when they date. Recommended for lovers of history and nature.

I visited this museum on a recent trip to Mexico City. The facade is particularly interesting with carvings of fossils around the entrance. We were given a most informative tour by two students from the university. The different sections of the museum include palaeontology, minerals and specimens of different types of volcanic rocks. Skeletons of more recent fossils can also be seen. In the basement there are interesting interactive displays. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Great geology Museum. Tons of artifact from everywhere in the world. Every rock and mineral imaginable. They even have a respectable collection of meteorites. And don't miss the interactive exhibits downstairs. There's a great rock wall simulation of a cross-section of Earth. It's small enough to stand in touch, but large enough to accurately depict strata and intrusions and sediment and everything else.
The building that houses this museum is also fantastic. Beautiful old architecture.
The only thing I would change is to add more specific Mexico City geology exhibits.

This is a beautiful building placed near a beautiful park. The architecture itself makes the visit worthy. I personally liked the way the objects are exhibited in a ninteenth century fashion. Even though it's probably the best place to see fossils in Mexico City, I feel the collection is outdated.

This small museum in a gorgeous old building houses samples of minerals, fossils (mostly marine) and a mastodon skeleton. The exhibits are in wonderful old wooden and glass cabinets, without the high-tech geegaws you find in many "modernized" museums. It is quiet and beautiful and well worth an hour or so of your time. It feels like walking into a history of the traditional geological sciences.

Came upon the museum when I was visiting the park across the street (Pabellon Marisco-recommended if you want something a bit different in parks). I'm not into geology, but it only cost 20 pesos. There are half a dozen large rooms inside, all filled with rocks from all over the planet. The labeling is only in Spanish, but you can understand well-enough. In one room, there are several large reproductions or authentic dinosaur bones/skeletons which, if you have kids, they'll probably enjoy. The center room has stairs leading to the basement. It's a very large area, interactive about the earth and some history, etc. If you don't know Spanish it won't be interesting. If UNAM outfitted it for foreigners (the very thought!), kids would especially like it.

When you arrive at the museum, the sight is impressive. This colonial type old building is just gorgeous, to be honest I didn´t expected the museum to be in this building. Inside, yo can see all the pieces that makes this a really enriching museum. Overall it is good and it is in an excellent location.

The building hosting the Museo de Geologia is remarkable, the hosted collection has not really caught my attention but if you are into geology you might be more interested than me. Conveniently located, the building itself is the main reason to check it out.

My child is 6 and loves to look at gems, rocks and things like that. They had some meteorites that he was excited to touch. There were even some dinosaur bones and mammoth bones which he enjoyed. Also a great selection of minerals and rocks. The building is also quite beautiful and historic.
