San Angel Market

Spent a couple of hours wandering the market. Started at the art & painting area and made our way to jewellery area. Great prices and some unique handicrafts.

This area is picturesque with cobblestone streets and luxurious gated residences. It's nice to walk around the area should you find yourself nearby.

Go to the Saturday Bazar. It's a once a week art bazar that was a highlight of the trip. Excellent items at excellent prices. The area surrounding it is just gorgeous too. With large houses hidden behind beautiful walls with bougainevilla and flowers around. Old cobblestone hilly streets. Lovely area.

Although it's mostly a residential neighborhood, it has shops and restaurants mainly around San Jacinto Square. I love the greenery in all it's streets and the really old houses with cobbled streets.

San Angel can be as urban and modern and sophisticated as anywhere else in the world, yet you can walk a few steps and around the corner a romantic, still in time a quite corner of the world reveals itself to you. Absolutely charming!

Our group thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful lunch followed by lots of shopping for quality Mexican arts and crafts. We bought jewelry, handmade rugs, and much more.

We went to the opening of an exhibit - engravings collected by a Mexican ambassador to Turkey . The museum is an enormous beautiful house. This museum is down the street from the Bazaar de Sábado. All of the houses are from the 16-17th century and have been turned into restaurants.

Staying in San Angel

Neighbourhood Profile
San Angel
San Ángel is known for its artistic vibe and elegant details displayed throughout its streets, antique residences and haciendas where famous actors like Consuelo Velázquez, Capulina and other prominent families used to live and that have now been turned into beautiful galleries, cafés and restaurants. An array of cultural and artistic activities are organized in the neighborhood, but it is on Saturdays when the San Jacinto Plaza and surroundings really shine as artists gather to exhibit a variety of arts and crafts, from paintings to clothing.
