Impressive murals, indifferent staff

The building, a real architectural treat, receives surprisingly limited visitor attention. The murals are some of the most impressive in the city. Yet great expenses of the space in this huge structure are empty or closed. Staff is unfriendly and pretend to speak no English.

Closed when we attempted to visit on the 12/7/2022 and 15/7/2022. No clear reasons why. Perhaps similar to national palace this is related to COVID-19?

Amazing Space, welcoming Docents, Incredible Exhibition of Mexican Art

This Museum is extensive and contained a vast exhibit of Rafael Cauduro’s work as well as provocative permanent murals and stained glass. The space is open, welcoming and lit well to showcase the art as intended. The Cauduro work on themes of justice is excellent.

Former college that now houses art and incredible murals. The building itself is a work of art. Well worth visiting to understand the vast history of CDMX.

First, don't rush! To appreciate this complex you're in for a lot of wandering. Up, down, through the different courtyards, balconies, buildings and galleries. There are many clear and useful signs with directions to different areas and exhibits- use them! This institution covers a lot of area, and is constantly in flux.
The murals- are quite heavy in subject matter, and cleverly worked into the architecture- not merely slapped up on the walls. There may be installations or regular gallery type displays, or outdoor stuff. Art both traditional and modern, religious and secular, depending on when you visit. The main courtyard is a little slice of paradise in the middle of Mexico City.
Sundays are free, otherwise 50 pesos.
The best part of this place IMO, is just strolling around and discovering at your leisure.

When last I traveled to MEXICO Cty in Febuary 2020 This most beautiful of palaces was closed to the public.The memory of its wonderful beauty is in my memory from previous trips Maybe next time round I'll be lucky

Repurposed building is a must see

This is now being shared as a preparatory school and a living museum. A presentation of the best way to eat insects had just completed. The chapel with the Diego Rivera Adam and Eve murals are definitely worth the viewing if it is not in use for lectures. Definitely part of a Zocalo visit.

This school was founded by the Jesuit Order in 1588. It was a very prestigious college and also seminary for those studying for the priesthood.
After the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1767, it became a quarter for the American and French troops.
In the 19th century, it was the National Preparatory school.
It was also the place were Diego Rivera, Siqueiros and Orozco painted their murals.
I highly recommend it!
