How much you will appreciate this church, only two minutes walk form the University, very much depends on how interested you are in architecture. This is an imposing temple, like most Jesuit churches in South America, although it cannot begin to compete with the splendour...More

I got my best picture of Guanajuato here. Actually up the Calzada de Guadalupe you get a great view of the dome with the city behind it.

This church is a mix of architectural styles baroque and churiqueresque, neoclassical and gothic due to earthquakes that had parts reconstructed in different tendecies! But once inside you cant help but feel you're in the 16th century, and the energy is very powerful, you will...More

This is a very large church next to the university. The exterior is difficult to appreciate as it is on a narrow street but the baroque details of the facade are impressive. The inside is huge with a great cupola: it is far quite than...More

Not as beautiful from the outside as the nearby Basilica but has some very detailed carving on the interior and in size seems even larger....well worth a look

Of all the churches in Guanajuato, we found this one to be the most impressive in terms of the sheer size of it. Also found it to be very peaceful to sit inside taking in the tranquility and the pigeons occasionally flying around.

The outside of this church is not as eye-catching as the Basilica, but I find the inside more attractive than the Basilica. Even if you are not religious, you should still check it out. It's worth 5-10 mins of your time.

Built by the Jesuits (sometimes called the Soldiers of God), with a recently clean façade, this church is a magnificent example of the Mexican Barroco. Impressive from wherever you see it, it will immediately draw your attention when passing by or when admiring the view...More

Beautiful church with lots of details. The church is not that big and takes only 10-15 minutes to walk through (less or more depends on how interested you are). The best part is the altar in the front with lots of details and also has...More

This church is an early example of the Churrigueresque style -- very elaborate facade. It's a huge church with some reconstruction going on when I visited. We were very lucky, however, to walk into the church at just the time the pre Semana Santa celebrations...More
