Cool visit but a long walk

Very cool place to have a quick look at the mummies. Not for the squeamish but an interesting thing to see in Guanajuato.

This is one of the many spots that one needs to see in Guanajuato. A little scary, if one doesn't like seeing dead folks then pass on this one. Its interesting to see the various mommies that they have found. Worth spending an hour or so to visit.

We really enjoyed the Museo de las Momias. At first it's a bit depressing and strange but it does get you thinking about our place in the grand scheme of things. No matter how fat your wallet is or how big your muscles are, we're all ending up in the same place. The mummies and their clothing are very well... More

My son was curious to visit this museum . In Mexico death is celebrated in Day of the Dead and so we thought is was a bit of a cultural experience. We decided to walk across this interesting city to visit it. There are also taxis and buses available . Actually we walked in and swiftly passed all the exhibits... More

Nice to see but a small museum. Not much explanation of what we are seeing. I didn't learn much from the visit.

Didn't quite know what to expect when I arrived. Sad that some of these people died as late as the 1960's and are on display to the public, including babies and men/women of all ages. I originally thought all of them were before the turn of the century, but that was not the case. Limited signage and instruction in English,... More

The museo is the main atracción here If you planning a visit I'll suggest you get here before 10 am because all the guides bring vans load with tourists and it gets pretty packed price is $60pesos per person

The place is worth a visit, but be prepared for disturbing sight. The information provided alongside some of the mummies is interesting, and the place definitely provides food for thought. If you read Ray Bradbury's "Next in Line", then the visit is a must, although the place changed a lot since his visit.

Don't you ever take one of the guide tours are offered on the city, I went there with my husband and my family we took it and was a completely waste of time. You can walk across the whole city, even if it looks far away is not. If you're going to this museum go in 15 minutes before the... More

I wasn't sure what to expect but this place was worth the 57 peso entrance fee. Only thing was we picked a weekend where all the locals visit so had to queue for an hour. Don't pay extra to take photos though nobody stops you. But no flash. Very interesting exibition with very little reading. Nothing really in English though... More
