There is an enormous amount of traffic around the Glorieta Minerva and too hard to walk to the center to see ithe statue of goddess Minerva unless it's early on a holiday or Sunday morning. It is currently under reconstruction (November 2016)

I see Minerva very very often. Standing still always protecting the big-city. The government just hired not long ago experts to keep her in shape. The gardens around are just divine !

This is perhaps the image by which Guadalajara is mostly known. It is indeed very beautiful, and is near restaurants, malls and attractions. On Sunday mornings streets are closed to automobile traffic and can be visited by bicycle.

Maybe this is the most known monument for locals. The statue is beautiful and represents the city protector. My feeling is that every administration would like to change it somehow so there is no constant view of this monument. Thay have changed the garden many times even the street around. It is a momument to be seen from a car... More

This is another of Guadalajaras famous monuments. There really isnt a nice place to get a picture because its in a traffic circle. Snap the photo on the fly as you drive around

This is a beautiful glorieta (when the traffic isn't bad) and adds a little history as this area used to be the "entrance" to the city when it was much smaller so, so many years ago.

Minerva is the Roman goddess of wisdom. As far as what I've searched, there is no special story in the creation of this statue, compared to other sculptors in many famous cities. Thus, I'd like to recommend to visit and see it only for the people whose hotel is nearby. There is a cafe around the Minerva, called 'cafebarracafe' with... More

Minerva means a lot to this city. Originally they dod not like or approve of the depiction of her, but have grown to see her as representing the city. You don't visit Minerva - you drive around her in a traffic circle. Sometimes the road is closed for important events. I heard that if there is a major topic for... More

Great to ride by or stroll by on Sundays. On the westside of the city, it's where the via recreativa ends. Most days it's an island surrounded by shark infested waters -- that its, unrelenting traffic makes it impossible to enjoy from a pedestrian's point of view. But on that one day of the week, Sunday until 2:00 pm., this... More
