This plaza has a huge variety of things to shop for as well as historical buildings nearby. I really enjoyed it but it’s easy to get turned around if you are looking for a specific shop. Street signs aren’t always apparent but don’t give up. Well worth the effort.

I love any city that has pedestrian friendly walks like this - started at the Plaza Guadalajara and the Cathedral, on thru Plaza de la Liberacion and then all along Tapatia Square to the Cabanas Museum. There are cafes, street vendors, fountains, sculptures. I found it all very relaxing and interesting and paused for beers to just people watch.

Long plaza running from Teatro Delgollado to Hospicio Cabañas. Controversial when it was built, because clearing the space for it meant destroying a lot of historic buildings. But it is very nice - two long promenades with fountains and sculptures, lined by stores and vendors. Often there is entertainment as well.On weekends, families come out and it is a blast.

This extends from behind the Degollado Theater to the Cabanas Cultural Center. It gets quite hot late spring and summer. A number of pantomimes and artisans are present. There are some cheap eateries on the plaza, needed are better restaurants. Some areas of the plaza has homeless people sleeping out. Towards the end of the plaza is an exit (right) to the large Mercado Libertad where practically anything can be bought on multiple floors.

The promenade from the Cathedral to the Plaza is a perfect example of a great idea for a city's renewal/upgrade but a horrible failure. It is rundown, dirty and an eyesore. Someone with some vision/money of increasing tourism and business should step in an do a makeover to this district. It should be the focal point of tourism and should be avoided until they clean it up and revitalize the area. So sad!
