The beauty of Guadalajara's historical center, where Teatro Degollado is located, is that it's very compact and walkable. At all times there would be hoardes of people mulling around though, so it's almost impossible to take a photo without someone bombing it. To my surprise, just a couple of blocks away, several local youths had no idea where Teatro Degollado was located, even when I showed it to them on a map! Is ignorance that far spread?!

My wife and I attended the "Galas de Mariachi" event and absolutely loved it. The theater is absolutely beautiful, a historical marvel, and a great place to see a show. I look forward to returning next year to see the Gala again. A must see landmark even if just for a tour.

We had the pleasure of attended a concert there to listen to the Guadalajara Philharmonic orchestra. It was excellent and an amazing evening of entertainment. The tickets in the orchestra section were great and inexpensive. Currently the orchestra plays on Thursday and Sunday.

I attended a classical concert here and very much enjoyed it. I found that was the only way to see the inside of the theater. Both the building and the music were fantastic. I highly recommend attending an event here. I purchased my ticket through the ticketmaster site (which was all in Spanish with no English). I paid a little extra in order to print out my ticket, but that didn't work, so I had to pick it up at the Ticketmaster office that is located about 3 blocks from the theater. I never would have found it without some help as it is located inside this boot store at the corner of Grecia and Calle Morelos: Boots Los Potrillos. Alternately, you can just purchase tickets at the theater on the day of the show.

I’m staying near the Teatro Degollado and I walked past it a few times. This morning was quiet and cool and I stopped at the small cafe for breakfast. The server was very nice and polite, considering my terribly limited Spanish. The food was delicious. I recommend the chilaquiles rojo with an iced coffee. Sitting beside the old and beautiful architecture, feeling the breeze, watching couples and families and performers film and take pictures (it’s a very photogenic plaza and a lot of ppl were taking advantage of that) was a great way to start my day.

This is an excellent place to walk and take beautiful pictures in the historic center of Guadalajara. A lot of cultural and fun events taking place here, and you can also take a carriage with horses if you want to do something fun.
I'm sorry I didn't have time to go to the theater!

It is important for all visitors to Guadalajara to visit the Teatro Degollado, it is extremely impressive. Concerts and activities held are of quality material. The building and its architecture alone merits a visit!!!
A must for all!!!

This theatre has been refurbished and re-opened in 2006 and the decor and acoustics are grand. Marriage of Figaro was the opening opera and was excellent. The Jalisco Symphony Orchestra has a new Steinway concert piano and several recent concerts have displayed the beauty of this instrument.

This place is a total sham.
We bought very expensive tickets to a Mahler concert. We had the confirmation code, the confirmation email, the e-ticket and my ID proving I was the real buyer.
They still would not let us in because I did not have the credit card on me.
The lady in charge was arrogant and dismissive. She employed every bureaucratic mean to stop us from getting in.
Payed for the tickets, had the documents and still could not get in. Lost my money and the respect for this place.

Well, we sat around the middle, simply to try and see as much as we could. And it was great. But I would like to try the balconies, sometime. I suspect they'll be just as nice. Someone mentioned having front row seats and going again - I'm just not sure you can see as much from there. I just enjoy being able to see everything when I want - we've been there for ballets. But I'm sure the sound is great, anywhere. Wherever you choose, I suspect you'll still be pleased with the entire evening. It's a wonderful theatre.
