We traveled from Puerto Vallarta on a 2 day shopping trip to Tlaquepaque and Tonala. We thoroughly enjoyed both areas but would have probably needed another 2 days to truly appreciate all of the sites etc ... Worth the trip for sure!

Just like every other market, but is close to historic city center. Access to local food and see locals buying daily necessities on the top floors. Good way to people watch.

If you want to experience real Mexican tacos, menudo birria, pozole this is the place. Prices 3 tacos for 27 pesos. Today's exchange $1.50 for 3. You will also find all kinds of herbs, religious figurines it's just a great place to see. Not far from cathedral. Easy walk

Why? The food is great. Try it all! It might take a couple of days to really get to try almost every thing the market has to offer. Want some real tacos? Ask for some "barbacoa" tacos or "tacos al pastor". In the mood for something warm and soupy? Try "pozole", "menudo" (the last one is made out of the... More

El Mercado Corona was destroyed by fire a few years ago however there are several city blocks in the neighborhood of the now defunct Mercado Corona where you can buy fresh inexpensive produce, and dried goods including food stuffs, clothing and prepared food.

El Mercado Corona burned down. They are now rebuilding it I like to go down and watch the excavation and watch them tie the steel for the new concrete. It should open again by the first of the year. And if you are looking for the old merchants who inhabited the old place, just head north on both the side... More

Do you like my title? Amazingly, it only begins to tell the story of this shopping district in El Centro GDL. Sandra and I approached the Mercado Corona from the east, having visited a small art museum catty wampus from Teatro Degollado that is not worthy of a mention. We turned left, down Avenida Juan Manuel and found ourselves on... More

As they say in the Seattle underground tour. "Authentically Cruddy" I would buy only a few things there, but it was very fun to wander around and see the many small businesses and artisans. By the way, most of the honey"meil" is watered down.

If you want cheap and local-delicious- food; this is the right place to go to. Hand made tortillas and a wide variety of meat based stews are worth the visit.
