We went to climb Izta with a group of friends. It is a nice long day with spectacular views, especially watching Popo erupt fairly close to you. Very scenic and we all have the best pictures we could dream of. We flew from US to Mexico City.
After calculating the cost for logistics if we did it on our own, I got a contact for a local company called Nomada. Not only they were amazing and above and beyond any of our expectations, their prices ended up being cheaper than if we did everything on our own! Instead of traveling with any gear, sleeping bags and tents, these guys took care of everything (all sleeping bags were clean with a washed liner, really good tents, good inflatable sleeping mats) and we all had a camp fire the night before. They cooked amazing food for us (all from fresh ingredients) and gave us lunch for our backpacks (good food for mountains, such as trail mix, power bars, dried fruit, sandwich and gatorade). As soon as we returned, a hot soup and quesadillas were ready for us! Their vans were super comfy so we could take a nap while they drove us onto our next adventure (Pico de Orizaba). I highly recommend them! You can reach them at NomadaTravelMexico at gmail. Feel free to message me with questions because we had a really good time and I'm happy to pass on more info!
