The candied peanuts are awesome! $5 a bag. We watched the owner make the peanuts along with the pecans. He was a great guy, very friendly and accommodating. Told me to come back. Got some chocolate and vanilla too. Great place to shop for yourself or for gifts. Highly recommended!!

We came upon the shop while walking throughout Old Puerto Vallarta, the owner and candy maker was there and showed us around, we purchased some good quality vanilla and some candied pecans and peanuts! I also purchased some caramel coated peanuts which were so good I'd wished I had bought more!

Check out this little shop that is only a couple blocks up from the Malecon. There is so much to see if you take the time to step away from the board walk and the kitschy shops and you will come across little gems like Dulceria Leal!

Our PV guide, Andres Chavez from Pacific Tours Vallarta, knows all the right places. Near the end of our walking tour, Andres asked if we like sweets. Well, on vacation, who doesn’t!? So he took us to Dulceria Leal to meet Willie Wonka, a real candy maker. Try the candied pecans and coffee beans, and top it off with his honeyed coconut. Wowzer! He can pack the handmade stuff so you can travel back home with it, if you can resist munching on it back at your hotel. A great and entertaining place that will totally satisfy your hunger for local flavor.

Heard about this place from friends and wasn't disappointed. Bought some delicious passionfruit candy and candied pecan nuts. They have a really large variety plus there are souvenirs and other things for sale. But go for the candy, nuts, fudge, chocolate, etc. I will definitely buy here again. Oh, and one of the shop assistants gave me all sorts of samples to try before buying.

Not sure if the Juarez St store is still there. Doesn't show up on Google Maps. Shopped at the store at Agustin Rodriguez St #307 just north of the pedestrian suspension bridge in Centro. Great selection of coconut products, nuts, candies, souvenirs, coffee, alcohol. The owners are so friendly and offer samples of many of their products. The coconut log with tequila is delicious. Bought several candies to take home for gifts. Nicely packaged. Lots of dulcerias in town. This one is my favourite.

family owned and run business with great selection of candy both "normal" and others with more of a local flavour. From a tourist perspective I found the store really well priced for something that was locally made. Never spent a lot of money but I bought a lot of candy. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful place to visit - homemade kettle style nuts made right in front of you by Jesus. Made you feel at home - has nice sitting area in front to see him make this treats. Very friendly. Good prices and nice souvenirs that are not your run of the mill.

Leal's has a few locations around town, but my favorite is the one in Centro near the Encino Hotel and the Flea Market.
Excellent selection of various candies, and they roast nuts in the front of the store to encourage patronage (they really don't have to worry about that with me).
My favorites are the various coconut bars and candies made with mango and tamarind. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

I randomly was wandering past and some of the dulces in front caught my eye, so I stopped. I'm so glad I did. All kinds of local sweets. Stuff you don't find in so many dulcerias. This place is full of stuff I've never seen or heard of. I'll be back!

50 years in the business, Jesus and his sons still carry on the family tradition. Their store is full of regional candies and their own candied nuts. We always make it a point to get some of our growing favorites on the list. Coconut haystacks, cacao, rolled fruit, rompope, vanilla.
