Although the Malecon is a top tourist attraction, it is worthwhile to stroll the boardwalk and see the expansive views and sculptures by world famous artists. You can skip the souvenir shops, but there are a couple worth browsing.

Every morning we take a nice walk starting at La Palapa and head down the El Malecon. It's not to crowded and there a lot of joggers and other people walking dogs.

Always something going on along the boardwalk. Good people watching, local folks building sand "castle" figures, artisans and vendors all along the boardwalk. Often there are artists and dancers on weekend nights.

Hi Alisha, There should be a bus (white & blue stripes) says : CENTRO this one will take you there. I believe you pay about 7.50 pesos. (Less thank a buck) Hope this helps

Are the local restaurants safe to eat at or drink a margarita at? I know the big resorts use filtered water and are safe to drink, but wasn't sure about small local restaurants.
