Decided to give Yelapa a miss and go to Quimixto instead. Its one of those places that you have to go to (I don't think many do as only me and my wife got off the water taxi) -- there's not a lot going on -- but we ended up in a family owned "restaurant" -- there was no menu... More

Nice hike through cute old authentic small village, could be difficult for some travellers. Enjoyed it

You can either hike and ride a horse!!! Such a fun activity. Although it's hot and you will sweat ;) it is nice when you finally arrive to the cataratas!!! Amazing view and water so refreshing. Enjoyed the experience!

Small waterfall surrounded by low key restaurants that will charge you $5 USD minimum for a table and server warm beer. Takes 20 minutes on horse-back thru the jungle to get there from the beach. Rest of the trip is unremarkable.

A group of 9 of us went out on a rented boat all day, and we stopped here. We decided to hike in instead of taking the horses (which is an option). The trail is very clear, and it's an easy hike if you're used to hiking. If not, there are a few places where it may be more difficult... More

This was a great way to get away from the resort. The hike up was moderate, and worth it. Make sure to arrive early (before 11:30 AM) when the crowds come up. You need to purchase a drink to be able to enjoy the patio view so be sure to bring money up for that. We took a private water... More

An easy to moderate hike to waterfall. Back at the beach we had a nice lunch at restaurant. Super day!

Rented horses to go up the steep trail to the waterfall yesterday. The cost was 200 pesos and included a guide/attendant. The ride took about 30 or 40 minutes and ended at the base of the waterfall. The scenery was lovely - a bit like Hawaii with lush mountains in the background. The path was narrow and rutted in spots... More

Made the hike up to the falls with some friends. Very humid but once we got up there, the water was cool and the beer was cold and tasty. I don't suggest sandals; wear decent tennis shoes or light hiking shoes and get there prior to 11 am when the heavy crowds arrive.

We drove to boca de tomatalian and hired a guide and captain to take us to the waterfall. We had the boat to ourselves and were given a nice tour of the bay. The guide told us we didn't need a horse, and while I wouldn't say the hike was easy it certainly wasn't hard. Yes there is horse droppings... More
