We have been here for 3 weeks and spend a lot of time sitting on beach by Sea Monkey restaurant and never see anyone go swimming. Heard that Banderas Bay water quality is so bad that no "gringos" go in. Not much fun to sit in sun all day without taking a dip or two. Further down beach saw locals... More

This is one of the best beaches in town. We only stayed a brief time, long enough to have a few drinks, relax in the beach chairs and people watch. My only problem here is the constant peddlers approaching you to buy their stuff, it was literally every five seconds someone would come up. I'm not used to that, this... More

Fabulous people-watching! Fun to watch the locals play in the sand, and the dogs playing fetch at this beach. Marvelous sunsets!

The hotel we used for our holiday is right on the Los Muertos beach. It has some of the most enjoyable sunsets I've seen. We saw people using it for everything from weddings to entertaining their dogs. The waves were fun to play in and I am sure everyday is a different adventure as far as waves and ocean so... More

At the end of malecon and start of romantic zone. The beach is beautiful with nice sand, getting into water I would wear water shoes due to small rocks. Under the bridge there is a little inlet. The locals take their kids there to swim. No heavy waves, gentle fun place to swim. Beach is rough but great for body... More

Get a taste of what Mexico is about by staying on this beach for the day. Beach vendors, local seafood (pescado embarazado and shrimp options), music, the boisterous nature of the locals, it's all here. Not for the faint of heart. If you've had enough activity you can always walk a bit south along the beach, past Las Pilitas, where... More

This is the people watchers beach and yes it's very gay friendly. You can choose your experience and you can choose your experience from laying out to catch some rays on a towel to reading your book under an umbrella with a waiter to bring you drinks every hour on the hour. The surf is wonderful most of the time,... More

This is a great beach to walk from start to end, with lots going on everywhere. Restaurants on the sand, kids playing in the water, boats, PWCs, water taxis, fishing charters and more. Stop at the pier and get a great view of it all. Walk to the south end and take a picture with the boy on the seahorse... More

This is the heart of old town Puerto Vallarta, or the "Romantic Zone. The pier has been my guidepost for exploring further, and my resting place, to watch the ocean, boats, beach goers, sunsets, etc. There are countless restaurants, bars, farmacias, markets, ATMs, and shops (all kinds and price ranges) within super easy walking distance. There are even small festivals... More
