About
Despite its name, Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone isn't just for couples. This vibrant area is lined with cool shops, street vendors, art galleries, restaurants, and queer-friendly bars, making it a popular spot for families, LGBTQIA+ travelers, and everyone in between. Stroll along the district’s cobblestone streets, shop for local handicrafts and souvenirs, or sit at an outdoor restaurant for drinks and to people-watch. Uncover all the best food stops in the Romantic Zone on a food tour of Puerto Vallarta. Los Muertos Beach is also a great stop, especially at sunset. You can also visit Cuale Island in the middle of the Romantic Zone, where you’ll find a flea market and a cultural center. – Tripadvisor

Don’t forget to try a homemade churros. We took the city bus from Barcelo Puerta Vallarta for 20 pesos and enjoyed the local experience.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 July 2023

There are many wonderful restaurants and shops you will find off the cobbled streets. - GenthesolotravelerBrooklyn, New York9 contributionsAmazing experience! Must do again!I decided last minute to take a trip during the Thanksgiving break. My co-worker recommended visiting Zona Romantica and I am so glad I took his advice. The vibe was everything! The weather was perfect for a walk along the beach and was able to watch the sunset from the pier. I then walked down the streets and popped into a few bars and restaurants. The locals were very kind and helpful and extremely friendly!Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 10 December 2023

- Lexilu1New York City, New York13 contributionsThe Original Old Town VallartaThis is Vallarta old town with the best vibe for any age and better than the touristy Malacon! It is the original Vallarta with history folks. There is no better place to be day or night and I love coming here yearly. You see singles, couples, retired people, entertainers, families, all ages of people from the very young to older folks! The people I have meet here are so fun and interesting! They come from all over the world to visit, rent, work and live here. Everyone has an interesting story too. The selection of establishment's to grab a bite are from coffee shops, small places to larger ones with all kinds of wonderful food to eat at, and prices from inexpensive to fine dining. The shopping is the best in Vallarta! I have my favorite usual places I visit and there are always new shops to explore. The beach is such fun and you can rent a chair, stay for the day or book your stay at one of the nice hotels for a week or months. It is the heart of Vallarta and I love this special part of town. After dark the night life is rocking with all the cool bars and endless entertainment. There is something of interest for everyone! Enjoy.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 March 2024

Grey hair territory... atmosphere has been rapidly changing with advent of package & senior tourist. Raucous, gaudy and simply tacky. I'm glad to see more Mexicans though. Beggars and conmen everywhere. Skyline is dominat3d by condos.

My first visit to PV was 60 years ago. I have spent many vacations there enjoying the Mexican atmosphere. This was probably my last trip to PV. The area has been taken over by US and Canadian visitors and has, in many ways changed the atmosphere of a once beautiful and special place. The tenor of the city is focused on selling to the tourist. Block after block of market places selling huaraches, hats, belts, and every sort of Mexican souvenirs. On the beach I was approached by trinket sellers, etc. every 30 to 60 seconds. I don't blame the locals. Perhaps there is still an unspoiled location in Mexico. I hope so.

With old charm and cobble stone streets, many restaurants, bars and hotels; this area is very popular with tourists. It’s fun to walk around and check out the shops as well.

The nicest restaurant we went to was La Palapa on the beach. We actually walked to eat a El Dorado which was highly recommended by both the locals and trip advisor but we weren't sure of the menu. But right before El Dorado was La Palapa and we liked their menu so we decided to eat there. The food, attentive waiters and cocktails were way above what we had anticipated. Since it was on the end of the Malecon and on the beach you did not have a million people walking in front of you and the VIEW at sunset was amazing. Not to mention they had a live guitarist playing in the back ground. This will be our go to 'nice dinner out' night restaurant in the future...and you don't even have to dress up! We live in the desert and to have a high class dinner in flip flops on the beach for around a $100 was amazing!
What kind of nightlife is there on Saturday's?

There is a ton of bars. You can walk from one to another. Everyone loves Andales for music and dancing. Margarita Grill has music to listen to. Kelly's Por Favor has live music. If your willing to go a little out of town, go to Rio BBQ in Mismaloya. Excellent food and different live music and specials each day. The music was like 4-8 tho. First time we found this place this year and it will now be a regular stop. Have fun!

Looking for recommendations for private transportation/transfer from airport to hotel in Romantica zone.

The government only allows cabs to pick people up at the airport. The ride to your hotel if you take the cab is about 35$ American. If you don’t want to pay that much you must leave the airport and cross a bridge on foot dragging your suitcases. The bridge is easy to find. Many people do it. At the end of the bridge are taxies lined up and they will take you there for half price. Uber works great for taking you to the airport. Used Uber many times was great. Used many cabs, I have never negotiated the fare prior to getting in. I have never had anyone attempt to screw me over, just many great drivers.

We will be arriving inPV end of October. We will arrive at airport at noon but can not check into our rented apt until 3pm. Should we just hang out at airport and take cab closer to check in time? We are senior citizens with 2 pieces of luggage to carry with us.

In our case we arrived around 1:00 and it took about two hours to clear customs, get our luggage and our pre arranged transportation. They were very busy. You may not get to your accommodations until close to 3:00 pm just going thru the process. I definitely would not hang around the airport. You may be able to check in a little early. You may also ask your driver to stop at a store for some supplies like coffee, any liquor water and other grocery items. We are seniors who travel to Mexico often. We love accommodation with kitchen so we can have morning coffee, a cocktail before going to dinner. We are going to Cano in Janv
