Many stores with souvenirs, pottery, leather goods etc, at good prices not as cheap as Matzatlan. Caution this area has many hills, cobblestone streets and steep sidewalks .

Once a good public market selling local food and local folk art, now it’s all made in China. Much better wondering around the street market along the river bed, where there is more chance of getting some local and authentically handmade souvenirs.

TIP: Check out the Elizabeth tailor and Richard Burton statue in the Restaurant entrance opposite, a good place for lunch along the river.

I went today to the Municipal market. A clean and organized market. Variety of souvenirs to choose. Decent prices. I asked the locals which place at the market is good to eat. It was recommended la Fonda La Marina and I didn't get disappointed, good local food. Worth to try!

If you live in PV and have visiting guests, this long running ,Mercado is a must do for them. They will truly have fun looking through all the shops and finding some treasures to bring back home.

Years ago this Mercado Municipal was a real Mexican mercado such as you find in cities in the interior of Mexico. Sadly, over time all of the vendors selling produce, meat, spices, and other merchandise used by Mexicans in their daily lives were replaced with booths selling cheap tourist kitsch. If you are looking for inexpensive and often tacky souvenirs you can find them here, but you would do much better to look in the many nearby shops or along the river where they sell a wide variety of beautiful handmade items.

You will find a wide variety of items to look at and buy. Each vendor in this market has many of the same things as the next guy, but some have a slightly different selection. You have to bargain a bit of course ! Did not try the food.

A little bit of everything and lots of the same things. Most prices are good and negotiable. Definitely worth a visit.

The Mercado Municipal is one of the most 'visitor friendly' markets in PV, familiar to locals, tourists and cruise ship patrons alike.
It's large, hard-to-see in just one visit, friendly, and well-priced.
The area is clean, crime-free (as is the majority of PV), and plenty more shops to visit and experience.
Across the street is an amazing coffee shop that makes superb pizzas, and the other way is a bar/restaurant with a statue and info on Elizabeth & Richard Burton.
This market is one of our perennial faves, and sure to be yours too.

At this location the vendors were friendly. There were so many booths we didn't see half of them but it seemed like they had a lot of the same items so we don't feel like we missed out on anything. Best to have pesos and understand negotiating

The level of cleanliness is to be desired so I would certainly stay away from purchasing meat and seafood, or at least be sure to refrigerate, wash and cook well when you get back to your condo. The endless list of options for fresh fruit and veggies is well worth the trip, as is souvenirs especially when you have to buy many to bring back to kids back home. Great drug store around the corner as well.
