- alschu11Orland Park, Illinois43 contributionsVery good PV area with easy accessNice upscale area near airport. Marriott was excellent, esp staff (Christian, Septimo, Hassa, Daniel, Martha, …). Several good walkable restaurants, incl. La Terrazza di Roma (Alvaro and Martin), Banana Fajita, and El Faro 36 Lighthouse. Ackua Spa nice for massage. Money exchange and varying rates was big problem. Bring small bills and change to pesos at airport. Low season is very humid and hot.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 October 2023

- MONIQUE AWinnipeg, Canada141 contributionsThe Marina offers stores, restaurants, bars and flea markets once a week!If you like Farmers Markets you have to go to the Marina Vallarta on Thursdays. Go early as the crowds will swell quickly. You can find crafts, jewellry, foods of all kinds and art work etc.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 February 2024

We had a great excursion experience with Vallarta Adventures, taking us to Yelapa and Majahuitas, feeding us, able to snorkel, kayak, ride a 4-wheeler, and visit some of the local community and vendors. The beach scene at Suyalita was a great vibe as well. A bit crowded, but the people are friendly and the food is excellent!Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 13 March 2024

The marina is a must. Lots to see and do. Shops, resturants and entertainment. Traveled in February also before covid and the entertainment and vendors on Wednesdays is great. This trip found a little bar that played country music.....great fun singing and dancing

Love the area around the marina. We spent about 2-3 hours walking around on a Thursday night. There were lots of tents with vendors selling their artsy wares and multicultural food stands as well.

Review for the thursday night markets here. A lot of booths here, mostly selling little trinkets and souvenirs. Some of the booths have similar or even identical stuff. The price initially offered is not cheap. I think it's pretty much expected you'll have to haggle a bit. It should be pretty easy to haggle it down to at least 50% of the original price. If you are persistent enough and have enough time and energy to haggle more, you can probably cut the price down even further. Whether that's worth it is up to you to decide.
I was hoping that there would be more food stalls but I couldn't find any except for a few down at the tail end of the marina towards the south. We were pretty hungry by then but most of the restaurants were already full or booked out so we ended up taking a uber somewhere else for food.

It was certainly packed the first Thursday in January. My one child hated the crowds. I found the souvenirs very typical and mostly over priced. We were there 8-9:30. It was an 80 pesos taxi ride from the hilton. The food stalls were more interesting than the knickknacks. Quite a few places selling pies. I do not think I will be back. I didn't realize how large the "marina" area is, as near the Hilton we are near the marina for cruise ships but this area is a marina for smaller boats. Near the cruise ship marina are tiny souvenir shops for the cruise ship tourists with similar higher prices. I will buy my souvenirs from the beach vendors.

This shop, Hecho a Mano, is owned and operated by Yadira Andres and her family. Many of the clothing and jewelry items are made by her family. She is most pleasant, eager to please and speaks English very well. My wife bought bracelets, earrings and clothes for Christmas gifts for our family. Her shop is located at Local 11-A, next to the restaurant Palomas Doradas and close to the lighthouse in the Marina

We always enjoy the Vallarta Marina. There are plenty of restaurants with a nice variety of cuisines. We especially enjoy Chappy’s, with its open view of the harbor, and Marisma for excellent inexpensive seafood. The Marina golf course is a special treat with 18 beautiful holes, many species of birds, crocodiles and iguanas. The Thursday evening market along the Marina is nice and brings some vendors you won’t find at the Saturday market in Zona Romantica. The waters of the harbor provide interesting fauna—fish, crabs, sea turtles, and an occasional croc. We love walking around the Marina, watching people, critters, and yachts. Definitely worth a stay or just a day visit.

Hate to give a top rating, as I don't want the world to know about such a lovely place! Nicely decorated. Very comfortable for 3 couples.
Perhaps this is first time the owners have rented their place out. Was missing simple instruction/welcome notes on how to use TV, internet, appliances. Although there are lots of restaurants and service providers nearby, would be nice to have owner tips on best spots, too. We had to call the property management company several times to give us proper instructions, but they were not well versed either.
Also beware: they charge extra for electricity, and even though we were very careful it was expensive!
Those were small inconveniences. Pluses far outweigh the minuses.

The marina area of Puerto Vayarta has almost everything. Great resorts and great restraunts. One of the best is a fifties place designed like a fifties malt shop with the music outfits photos and food. It is great fun. There are many restraunts riging the marina, pick the type that appeals to you. They are varied and very good.. Great ,fun area.and only ten minutes to el centro(downtown Vallarta. Enjoy.

We stayed 6 blocks from the marina for an entire week, so we ventured over every single day often times multiple times a day.
There are TONS of food options and almost everything you would want to eat.... 50's Americana food, BBQ, Fajitas, Steaks, so on. Lots of shops. Thursdays they have a bunch of vendors and it is so much fun to see what locals make and sell, from hot sauce, stuffed toys, jewelry, TAMALES, art work, bakery goods and more. It was a blast.
Only con for me, was the cobblestone. After surgeries, the uneven cobblestone was painful after about 20 minutes for me. BUT that didn't stop me from going. Just swung by one of the pharmacias and went on with my day. :)

Hi all! Is this just a Marina where people dock boats, etc or is there a living area like a resort/time share attached to the marina? The website doesnt specify, and i see people saying they stayed here (but i dont know if maybe they rented a boat/yacht) thanks all!

The marina is an area of town per se. There are boats there but also a Malecon ( boardwalk) where there are stores and restaurants. There are condos and homes in the Marina area too. Tourists would likely go to the Boardwalk. Yachts and such are parked there not cruise ships, they go to the Maritime area.
I myself love the Marina area and many of its restaurants and resorts. It is very close to the airport and an easy bus or taxi /Uber to anywhere. Hope this helps.

Does anyone knows if the Tianguis will be re-schedule after all this COVID-19 issue?

Has anyone used the beach called Playa el Salads in Puerto Vallarta? I am trying to find a beach to use while we stay in the Marina. Thanks.

There’s a great beach just seaward from airport. No restaurants but there’s a turtle egg/baby sanctuary. Just on other side of shopping center. Great mosaics on the wall on walk down.

How far is it from marina to beaches
Written 31 January 2020
I stayed at Vamar Vallarta so the only beach we went to was across the street at the sister hotel. The Malecon has accessible beaches but it is at the other end of Puerto Vallarta. It is about a 25 minute bus ride.
