Spent two days in old Vallarta and just saw a small part of it. Live the little restaurants and shops. Felt very safe in area and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Our first trip to Mexico was in 1972 and we stayed four hours North of PV. Made several trips into town during our stay. We returned for the first time since 1972 last month. It has changed a lot on the Malecon but the old town still has some of the restaurants that I remember. Lot's of Expat living there... More

When you move away from the ocean and Carr 200 you'll find it more tranquil... the hustle and bustle of traffic mixed with tourists disappears. lots of streets, alleys and stairways to explore. Good idea to read up a bit on the different elements of architecture and lifestyle not to mention Liz and Dick.

If you want to experience the real mexican flavor you have to visit Old Vallarta, people are super friendly! The nearest beach is rocky but a walk through the Malecon will be well worth your trip!

We just got back from PV for 11 days. We have been here many times before and always frequent Old Vallarta. Shopping is wonderful in this area as well as many Excellent Restaurants. If you take a trip to Puerto Vallarta do not miss this part of town or you're missed a lot!

Cobble stones streets, narrow whindy roads, walls with lives going on behind them, nice authentic shops (not all the same of cheat stuff sold by multiple vendors) leather shops, handmade custom clothes, nice linens, etc. Fun area. Check it out.

Its still Mexico with all of its charm. It a must to do, western influence is sure to ruin it with time.

Old town is chock full of quaint old streets with whitewashed buildings and many different kinds of stores for buying just about anything you need, want or desire. E even found a casino in old town.

We spent the whole day there. Walking from store to store. Having coffee at a local cafe. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from. Real good experience, friendly people. Got some good deals on things. My only complaint is that you are accosted every 6 feet no matter where you go. Do you want a hat, look at... More
